Difference in experience between Driving Force GT and G27?

Hi guys, I have a DFGT that I have used for GT5 prologue, and I am thinking of upgrading to a G27 for GT5..

The question on my mind is that, would the upgrade be a major leap, in terms of experiencing the game itself?

As in, the FFB would be much more smoother and subtle, in that sense.

Would appreciate all of your inputs!

:)

I do not have the G27 [I have the DFGT and the PWTS] but yes I would say the FFB would be smoother in the G27 due to the different type of gears in the G27. You also get a clutch pedal and a gated shifter.

The Fanatec wheels are belt drive so they are very smooth and the FFB is adjustable on the wheel so they can be set to very mild or very strong and everything in between even on game which do not have adjustments for it.

Alright, thanks for your input!

I think the Driving Force Pro was very similar to your DFGT. I have a DFP and recently bought a G27 so I can tell you my experiences with those 2 wheels. The force feedback is better, not night and day, but less clicky/clunky. It feels much smoother when cornering and the wheel returns much better. The G27 is almost completely siilent too, where as my DFP was very noisy. Shifter and clutch are nice additions, and help with the immersion factor of racing games. The pedals were a huge upgrade,, they feel way way better and are much more sturdy, less toy like. Overall the wheel is made of much better materials and really feels more like a racing wheel than a video game toy. All that aside, the wheel you have works really well, and is a great wheel so I wouldn't strain my wallet to upgrade, but if you can afford it you will be very happy with the G27. hope this helps, Jeff

In looks only. The DFGT wheel internals are closer to those on the G25, definitely a step up from the DFP. And the G25 itself isn't much below the G27, naturally slightly so but not drastically by any means.

I'd say drive the DFGT to the ground and then upgrade to whatever is available at the time - you won't be missing out on anything in the time being. Unless you want the six speed shifter, of course.

So long as spending 300ish bucks on a wheel isn't going to cause you to go hungry, definately upgrade. The FFB is beautiful, the pedals are perfect, and the amount of options you have for building a racing cockpit around the G27 are endless.

Shop around though, there's always a deal on somewhere for a G27. And actually, I would almost say pick up a G25 if you come across it, at least until we know if GT5 supports the paddles on the G27. You'll still never have the bump shifter option with the G27 though, and the difference in FFB between the 2 isn't THAT huge.
