I've heard different opinions on this matter, but I'd like to get more opinions on this matter. If you keep the rim/wheel size the same, do you experience ANY difference on driving performance when switching from stock rim to aftermarket rim/wheel in GT Auto? Again, I don't mean if you increase +1 or +2, but if you keep the size exactly the same.
Some friends have sworn that they experience different lap times consistently with different rims. Then, others have told me that they have gone through the SpecDB and found absolutely nothing that changes when you switch rims. It is 100% just a visual change they tell me.
For me it's visual only in lap times when changing rims but not size.
Ask for the car(s) that your friends are saying they get better lap times with maybe there is a pattern or maybe it's placebo

Bus Line changes number on front, only visual change, but it starts to go different route.
You can all count how many different variables are easy to create with sign change on game, or if you think at all these values are used on same time on all tires then....
When looking tire data closely you can imagine how many identifier there are for "same" reason, I'm saying at changing rim changes bus number, it reads different identifiers for different rims, making different behavior then. Lap time isn't best way to try measure changes, on linked thread there was OT discussion and tune for one car, on that tune you can feel changes of different rims.
I'm not sure how DS3 users feels changes, but on my wheel (G27) I'm getting clear changes easily.
On that Evora/big willow combo my lap times varies over 1.5sec between rims, but changes of driving are huge even on same lap time giving rims, different rims needs different lines/style to drive, using different lines, braking, acceleration and steering amounts but going close same lap time. So lap time is stupid way to measure rims. My fastest lap time is coming one hardest to drive rim, keeping car on track with those is difficult, but when managing to do it lap time is fast.
The thread may be about changing size, but OdeFinn was ALSO discussing the same rims difference there too... That is the reason why I linked to it, because there was some relevant discussion for this topic in there.
I have noticed that when tuning is set to prohibited, changing the rim size automatically disallows a car from entering, however changing the rims whilst keeping at the same size does not.
Each rim has its own characteristic, I
learned that from testing, also the rim size makes a difference.
