Beat me to the question. No offense but for a nice looking girl like yourself you know quite a bit about your cars.![]()
E55PowerDoug,
How do you know front plates are a requirement where that car is located?
M5PowerAssuming the vehicle is located in Wisconsin, where the poster is located, two license plates are a requirement, which is a shame because Wisconsin has the single ugliest license plate of any North American jurisdiction, Mexico and Canada included.
M5PowerOne of those (Grand Sport) was at the strip two times ago. And of course, I owned one, but disliked it strongly. Great shot though - those things are rarer than God.
2006 Chevrolet Impala
Mercedes S65 AMG - second-most expensive Mercedes ever
Ferrari F355 Spider
Coolest off-the shelf license plate number ever
My friends dad owns a real 356. It's pretty cool.E55PowerLooks like a 356A ('55 - '59) Cool little cars.
Odds are, it's a fake, though.
E55PowerAlso, why does that F355 have 360Modena/Spider wheels?
E55PowerActually, you didn't say what year or generation it was.
M5PowerI know, I hate it.
Here's the Porsche 911 I beat while driving a 1996 Volvo 850 Turbo sedan:
Some might ask "how could a Volvo beat a 911?!" Actually it's not so hard - that was a base model 911 with (likely) a Tiptronic automatic transmission. Driven properly, those vehicles do 0-60 in 6.3 seconds against the 850's 7.1. We got up to 70mph, with the Volvo pulling ahead. But in that sprint, he shifted three times (which is why I originally figured it was a manual). Since he peaks at around 6800rpm, had he been driving properly he really should've only shifted once - my guess is he got a little carried away with Tiptronic and shifted at about 3350rpm each time, not allowing his car to produce full power or anything near. Given the weights of each vehicle (3120lbs 911 vs. 3278lbs Volvo) it's perfectly reasonable to assume he accidentally limited his car's power to about 200bhp allowing the Volvo (with 222bhp) to win. Furthermore, I knew the sequence of the light we were sitting at allowing me to power-brake - virtually eliminating my turbo lag - while he simply idled forward.
That said, I beat a Porsche in a Volvo, and however I did it, it was still one of the most thrilling experiences of my life.![]()
E55PowerAre you sure the Porsche knew you were racing?
McLarenF1 GTRM5, you haven't seen a 575 SuperAmerica yet, have you?
Wait...dealers don't count do they?M5PowerYeah, considering we hit 70mph in a 35 then both braked like crazy until we were back down to the speed limit. No question - I've been in hundreds of street races, I know when it's going down.
SuperAmerica my ass - I haven't even seen a 575 yet. Two 550's, no pictures (although I did post that awful night shot of one of them somewhere in this thread, so I guess I have one picture). No 612s either. Yes I've seen two C-GTs and there's a Maserati on every corner. Explain that one.
Do you have giant 5 story garage on your Mercedes dealer?M5PowerIn the next year, I would like to have seen and photographed the "big five" expensive cars on the road in Colorado:
- Ferrari Enzo
- Maybach (either)
- McLaren Mercedes SLR
- Porsche Carrera GT
- Rolls-Royce Phantom
Right now I'm two for five (C-GT and Phantom) and I have seen an Enzo inside the service bay at Ferrari of Denver, meaning such a vehicle exists in Colorado. I'm confident I can see a Maybach in Denver, too, since we have one of the largest Mercedes dealers in the country, but I don't know that I'll ever see an SLR McLaren.
McLaren F1GTRWait...dealers don't count do they?

Ev0You have to come to Toronto to do some serious car spotting, M5.

I was thinking this wasn't real, because real ones are worth like $500k, but Carroll Shelby signed it. Anyone want to give their opinion? Or some fact? It was at a show along with three replicas, and it looked a lot more worn and aged than those three. NOTE: this is Sage's favorite car.
BY THE WAY: Duke, you're off the hook on the ACR numbers if you can tell me whether the Cobra is real.
Sunfires and Cavaliers are omnipresent on this end of the country, too. Three of my friends have cars and they're all J-bodies (2 Sunfires and a Cavalier). I have yet to see any of the minivan quadruplets though.Ev0I think Toronto has an obsession with crappy cars made by GM (Sunfires, Cavaliers, and older GM minivans are also very common). So really, it's a mix of the really good, and the absolutely dreadful.
