We've had a bunch of updates since last spring. The Polyphony team has added a lot of stuff and fixed a lot of problems. It appears that new fixes are creating new problems. Are we getting to the point where it's time to abandon the updates and just create a new program (6) from scratch? Any programmers out there?

I think they already work on GT6. A small Team will Update GT5.

I think....
At the Moment the Engine Team will work on a improved GT5 Engine to use the PS4 Hardware. The Car and track Design Team will work on new Content since GT5 Release. Some will be added per DLC to GT5 with a downgrade. The downgrade is necessary to Match the PS3 Hardware, because the ps3 can't handle the Cars without downgrade..

Turn10 is doing this too.... With some other Developer. They Create Content in higher quality that the current console can't handle

The physics Team will do some Research and may sign a contract to improve the physics. For example Turn10 made a contract with Pirelli.
They will Talk about Taking advantage of PS4 Hardware.

Some others will Talk with Manufactures and Track owner about license etc.
Some will Talk and work in New ideas....

Some will so Research what the Community like/Dislike about GT5.

And a small Team Supports GT5.

I'm ready for GT6. Though I'm only going to buy it if PD really strives to make a simulator this time.

There are still a ton of things you could add to GT5, but if PD actually wants to live up to their slogan, they probably need to completely overhaul the physics engine and the way you progress though the game. That might be too jarring of a change for people who like GT5 as it is.

Ditto, unless they come up with something that is so awesome that I must have it.

I think if it came time for them to stop updating GT5 to work more on GT6, then so be it. They've already given us so much already, even more than I ever imagined they would.

Free Roam/C-Spec would do it for me. BUT, of course, the new features that came to GT should be improved enough to make it feel fresh. Course maker is too basic with not that many track environments to use.

More current tracks being reversed and those that have weather I'm hoping will be added in an update. Eiger Nordwand with weather should have a reverse track.

If you consider this by monthly DLC/Update you should have been around the first year GT5 was out. We were lucky to hear about anything from PD(Due to the natural disasters) with a 6 month window(maybe exaggerated).

I could care less about free roam, but a highly detailed course maker and a good livery editor would certainly pull me in.

^^ Yea but free roam feature can draw more attention to casual gamers and if done right, reviewers would give it a better score, of course if the entire game gives in a fun factor. If GT6 doesn't have this feature, then the next Forza might take advantage of this.

I would like to see livery editor, customization, A-spec teams for championships (either ability to choose A.I or PSN player team drivers) and so on. Hopefully we can hear about some information about GT6 at the E3. I'm betting GT6 would be like GT5 Prologue (regarding visuals and pure premium content: cars/tracks).

Kaz would probably make an announcement about regarding GT5's last update and give in some teasing information about GT6.

Sping-xmas 2014 is my bet on 6. Sadly, details of the PS4 will leak weeks or months after launch, which may hurt sales. Expect a livery editor then, but not before.

I don't think free roam belongs in a GT game honestly. I would rather they concentrate on having a better car selection and a more detailed customizing center, livery editor and more tracks.

Totally agree. This isn't GTA :D

I would still like some of the classic tracks to return to GT5,but without events to use them it would be kinda pointless.

I think we need more A-spec offline career mode content. But that's the question, what exactly is possible with GT5?

One thing is for sure though, they could get a little more creative with the seasonals! And at least if they keep adding seasonals, keeps it some what interesting until GT6.

You say they've been adding a lot of stuff but in reality what have they added since spec 2.0, which in itself didn't add that much?

2.01 - fixed bugs from 2.0, nothing new to speak of.
2.02 - wheel changes on standard cars, not exactly a new feature.
2.03 - Misc fixes, the new content was paid DLC.
2.04 - Bug fixes, mostly from older updates.
2.05 - fixed one bug in 2.04 update.

In all that time A-Spec could have been overhauled, hundreds of new events added, new special events could have been added, but in reality the updates haven't really added much new gameplay.

How do you know for sure they could have been added? You assume they could, but you don't know.

Logic dictates they could have. They added a handful of seasonal events, they added the speedtest section (as paid DLC), that suggests they are capable of adding content if they wish.

To all you "I would wait and see what is different in GT6 before I buy it." people, I say " 🤬 you would wait!" You would be standing next to me in line on release day after the promotions and leaks on the Internet, countless hours of reading inflated opinions on the Internet, bad and biased reviews from paid promoters on gamer shows and in the magazines. Not to mention the 562 threads about 'Do you think GT6 will have...' here on GTPlanet. Then you will only communicate to the outside world via GTPlanet for the next 2 weeks as you explore and find your position in GT6. Just like every other GT game from PD, that's already my plan.

I hope there's still a lot of life left in GT5. If the GT6 development timeline follows the same pattern as GT5, we've got about 4 more years until release.

Probably a lot longer if Sony hasn't stabilized the hardware and performance specs of the PS4 yet.

Totally disagree, it's even in the name, gran turismo, which doesnt mean driving fast around a track, but going on a tour, which is what you do in free-roam.

Photomode also suits a lot more to a pretty looking enviroment then some sterile looking track, tdu any one?

Yes the could so a Free-roam, BUT there is so much to do for GT....

- Livery Editor
- auctions House
- Hundreds of p Cars
- New Race Series (realistic races (different classes with massiv Cars in 1 Race,....)
- New Track
- better physics
- Get New license
- PS4 Engine
- New Race Modes (Drag,...)
- Community Features ( Rival Mode, auctions House, Full leaderboard,....)
- more Cars on Track (up to 64)
- and alot more

Free roam would be cool, but as a SIM you Need the other Things First.

They will have to waste time making a handheld version, so that puts GT6 another 18 months further away.

I just want a GT5 A-spec event creator, so I can custom build challenging events for the specific cars I want to drive.

I have no interest in a handheld version, but it seems inevitable with GT being a flagship Sony product and them eager for the new handheld to be a success

That's exactly my point Simon. "Bug fix after bug fix". For that reason I'm thinking it's time for them to move on to 6.

I think is that wasn't a statment issued that PS4 is abit far away if not for a while. I can see GT6 Prologe being basick gt5 edition with minor alternations to tracks and few cars... the updates as I can see nothing but bug fixes and setup for possible DLC release but I think in the last 5 we got only 2 dlc downlaobles...

I'm guessing that GT5's last update would be Spec 3.0 like they did with GT5 Prolouge. And I'm also guessing that GT6 will be for PS3 also. Every PlayStation console had 2 GT games come out.

With GT (any and all) The one out now is a prototype for the next. So long as Sony stays with the PS3 I for one don't think we will see GT6 anytime in the next few years or till GT5 is what Kaz wants it too be. We do know they started work on a GT6 but there is little if any facts about it or the next PS out where we can see them.

no

NO. Even if GT6 were to take 3 years, you'll blame the Vita. Good for you!!!!

Yes. Read your First sentence again. GT5 can Get Patches and DLC. Just See GT5 with all DLC, Patches, SPEC2.0 as GT5.5 or GT6 if we were in a century without Patches and DLC.

I mentioned why GT6 on PS3 doesnt make Sense :)

PS4 is coming earlier as you think :P

Nope. Some of us have actually been put off by GT5. I don't trust PD enough to buy GT6 sight unseen. I've bought every other GT on day 1, but this one will have to wait.

If PD have to make the Vita game, then it's a massive management fail by Sony. Hand it over to Evolution or Studio Liverpool, as PD sure as hell shouldn't be the studio making it.

Same here. We have more Good Sims Out there and GT5 was Not the Game that was hyped. Yes the Game is Great and improved much, bad AI and Sound, less A Spec Events,... are Bad :(

I watch before i buy now.

Agree. I dont want to See PD waste Time on a Vita Version.
