Direct skill comparison anyone?

Hi guys, I was just wondering if any of you would be interested in seeing how your driving skill alone compares to others. Basically every week a track and stock car will be chosen and no modifocations at all or tuning will be allowed. So this will eliminate the benefits of tuning so you can see how good your driving really is! Anybody want to try this idea?
 
To really make sure this is even, you'd have to ensure all aids are off or that everyone is using the same aids, type of transmission (manual or auto) & everyone is using the same type of controller (DS3 or Wheel etc.)

Haha this is the kind of response I was hoping for! I would lay down all rules every week. Spread the word!
 
I'm in if I have the time required. I'll just wait and see. Nice idea by the way. We can make 2 categories for every controller (wheel-gamepad).

Yeah or we could just have to leaderboards every week one for ds3 one for wheel. I will start this idea soon I just to attract some more fans willing to participate first!
 
This is a great idea...which is why we're firing up the ORCA private lounge network starting this week. Each week a different car selected, run on stock tires no tuning, no aids except for ABS=1. First three cars this month will be 69 Vette, Ferrari California and the NSX RM on SS tires. In the fourth week after a popularity vote, we take one of those cars and run a championship week. Next month, 3 more different cars, again all spec. This group has already run 4 full championship seasons of racing in other cars, this is a new format and along the lines of what you're looking for.

Yeah thanks for all the support guys, hopefully I can kick things off this week with a little more interest. Its just something you can quickly try with a bit of spare time and it eliminates the advantages of tuning making it a level playing field. You just and so some laps of the track in the car and put in your best lap time. Remember its just for fun!

Arcade mode cars only, grip Low ( So no-one cheats or forgets) ?

Yeah all aids off with auto transmission because then its fair because some people can't drive manual.
 
Hi guys the first event will begin tomorow, I will create the thread and will state the car, track and ground rules for the event. To clarify, is this an online event, or do people record their times and send them in? Of course the second one would require people to use the honour system.

i believe most ppl here run w/ no tc and 1 in abs, auto gear just ruins ur performance so if you want to use it, by all means.

This isn't an online event, each week a track and car is chosen then you simply go on practice under gt mode and put in the best lap time and send it in stating whether you used ds3 or wheel. Please be honest guys or your cheating yourself out of your true skill. Each week the cars will be stock and no tuning allowed with all aids off but abs on 1 and it will be manual transmission. The first event will begin later today and will be in a thread called 'week 1 driving skill competition'. Hope you enjoy it, feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Haha thanks for your support, its just meant to be a bit of fun where your compared on driving skill not tuning and parts. I will try and build a leaderboard at the end of each week of the times sent in. First event will begin in a few hours!

Could it be combined with Car Of The Week sometimes?

No its offline you just use the car and track on practice under gt mode. Then you have as long as you want then send your best lap time in, its just a bit of fun. You don't need a GTP account, its just so you can see how good you are on driving skill alone, hope this helps. First event starts In a few hours!

Fastest time/suspected cheat will have to verify with screen shot!

Only ARCADE MODE RECOMMENDED CARS NOT YOUR OWN CARS IN ARCADE MODE!
ALL AIDS OFF (ABS 1) GRIP LOW (Easier to regulate)
Its fun guys, just to see where we are at compared to others!
