Total insult. So I own the incomplete edition then.

They should change the title pronto.

I'm not trying to attack you Spagetti, but I've never understood the anger over Complete Edition/GOTY Editions/SpecII/any edition released later with DLC included. We see this anger a lot, especially once GT5XL was announced. It's a game that's been out almost a year and they are trying to increase sales and keep the game relevant instead of people going to Gamestop and buying it used for cheap. Yeah this is a better package than what you paid for, but you've had the game and been able to play it since last May and there is value in that. Personally, I would much rather have Dirt3 or Gt5 for the past year or year and a half, pay for the DLC, and be able to play those games countless hours than wait that period and save a couple bucks before picking it up. Just my opinion though.

The insult is that they had the complete edition pretty much completed when they released the game...

That's a fair point mate and no I don't think your attacking me lol.

It's not the GOTY stuff in bothered about TBH.

It's the cheek of the Title.
Complete edition. Their not even trying to dress it up with a GOTY/Special edition etc etc.

Game was crap anyway, returned it 2 days later for full refund as it happens.
Rally my arse lol.

We are one step away from releasing 2 versions of the game on release date.
Regular £39 version and £59 grab your DLC early versions. Lol.

Really I'm used to the whole DLC added later stuff. It's the bloody title. Ha ha.

I got you.👍

Isn't that what Forza/COD/Uncharted essentially did with their passes, pay now and receive later? I wouldn't be surprised if more companies consider it.

I agree. It already started.

Ridge racer PSV comes with 3 tracks 5 cars as standard. DLC to follow.

MX vs ATV something or other was sold at a discount price on disc with the user being given the option to purchase what he wanted as DLC.
Could be a good idea as long as the content is good, you could Taylor your own game.

Certain games/genres I can give some leeway.
Rockband/Singstar etc are a core experience which gives customers the option to purchase a prefered music/style and not have to pay for stuff they may never sing/play.

Racing titles I can cut some slack too.
Impossible to have every car/track combo in the world.

It would be a nice feature to have a storefront with every track/car available to purchase and create your own experience.
(have to be cheap though lol) I would be skint within a week ha.

Not strictly true, some stuff needed the license to use to be approved first - delays from manufacturers and license holders just meant that some of the content wasn't on the release day version.

Okay, in fairness some of that content which appeared via DLC should have been free to those who already had the game - but most of the stuff was all new content.

I'm not having a go at you specifically Tribolik, I just don't understand the huge amount of negative commentary that a game which was intrinsically superb has received and continues to receive. The name maintained it's retail price long after the release, unlike a lot of other games released around the same time - you can't sell something for full price that isn't worth it.

i have to say i am a big fan of this game and the mcrae/dirt series as a hole, i was just surprised at the way codemasters didnt care about keeping things out of the game and didnt really try to hide it, dlc after a couple of weeks is never going to look good and in my opinion it was insulting. thing that annoyed me the most was putting cars in trailers and promotional posters and adverts and then finding out they have been kept out of the game for dlc. cars im referring to are the s4, 205 t16 group b's and the c4 rallycross.

codemasters have gone downwards in my estimation after this embarrassment and the sorry excuse of a game that f1 2011 was (on ps3). and what with this stupid juvinile crashfest cr@p that showdown is going to be i can see it only to keep getting worse for codies. only plus point i can see is it might lure some of the rammers and jokers on from gt5. as a longtime fan of codiies i am dissapointed only thing that could cheer me up is if they hurry up with a grid sequel. wich is what a lot of fans have been asking for, not a next gen destruction derby drizzled in energy drinks.

Im happy I waited a little to ge tthis game I will get it in march I think thats when it comes out.

Awesome! I returned Dirt 3 on PS3 after finding out most of the stuff I was looking forward to was left out for DLC. Over here in Australia all the DLC added up was almost triple the cost of the game alone.
I'll definitely be importing the PC version from the UK on release.
I hope this DLC trend will end soon.

I'm thanking my lucky stars I didn't buy it yet - all the cars I wanted were part of the DLC so I would have spent a small fortune combined.

I feel sorry for all the people who bought the incomplete edition. DLC is starting to ruin gaming because most publishers are realising they can just strip parts of a game and sell them for more money post-release. Bad times.

Dirt is now 14.99 in the european PSN. Is it any good? I like rally a lot. Could someone give a little feedback how the like or dislike this game?

Thanks,

I really don't understand the problem with DLC or GOTY editions. It's not like we are forced to buy them. Year on year we get more game for the same money. You can't really expect that to continue. They are just catching up with the rest of the business world. You pay extra for options in cars, your pie and pint doesn't come as part of your match ticket at the football on a saturday, want the washing machine model that has a special wool cycle?, you'll have to pay more than for that bog standard one. A night out on the lash costs at least £50, with only weak urine to show for it, a trip to the cinema is £25 a pop for the full experience. £30-40 for at least a 20 hour gaming experience is the bargain of the century when you put it in context ;)

Pay a bit more and you get an even better experience, that's true of most products these days. Gaming is just catching up, and like I said, no one is holding a gun to your head.

Look, don't get mad, get even.

They can release whatever they want for whatever price. It is fair as long as you know what you get. And we can read reviews about what we get. And then we can all decide how much we are willing to pay for it, if at all. Yes we get GOTY editions later on, we know that. So buy that then and get a patched up game (hopefully) at the same time. Unless you have to have the game on release. Then you buy it on release and it's totally worth it for whatever you're getting or else you wouldn't have bought it.

Right?

Want a new game? Why don't you look at what was released 1+ years ago? Those games are still "new" to you since you haven't played them. Get that and play that and while at it, time will pass and suddenly the Dirt 3 complete game rocks up for a better price. Repeat and voilá, you've established a steady flow of complete and well functioning and cheap games. Have to have the latest? Well, then it's worth the asking price. Simple.

It might sound like a crazy longshot, but maybe if you go to the Dirt thread and read that you'll get an idea. Or one of the gazillion reviews.

Naaaahh

The problem I had with Dirt 3 was how the DLC was integrated. I didn't play the game at launch but when I did get round to picking it up I saw there were several cars blanked out with a 'you have to buy this' over it, which was ok, I could deal with that... Then I noticed there were events I couldn't enter without paying, and without completing those events I couldn't completely finish the career mode! What's that about? I consider myself a mild completionist (when I enjoy a game I tend to do everything there is to do in it) so it was really jarring to not be able to finish a game I paid for.

Yes, I understand they did it to add some more value to the purchase price, but DLC should never be to the detriment of the full game, it should be adding things on rather than cutting things out to sell later. Another thing is 'pay to win' DLC, not sure if any of the DLC cars were remarkably improved over the others but you do get that with DLC sometimes. Killing Floor's recent community weapon pack certainly sounds unbalanced and some people say BF3's expansion weapons are a little overpowered too.

So yeah, there's good DLC, bad DLC and ugly DLC. Borderlands had good DLC, Dirt 3 had bad DLC and Saints Row 3 has the ugly (the countless cosmetic add-ons) kind.

...

Totally agree with this. Couldn't have said it any better. Borderlands 1 GOTY costs less than the online DLC combined (probably). BTW, is there a way to check the PSN prices on a computer?

Locking people out of finishing a career is unacceptable of course.
Was this not pointed out or flagged at all? I agree with all you wrote except I think the weapon pack is pretty balanced for Killing Floor having priceranges according to stats comparable to existing guns in the same pricerange. If the damage is higher the range might be shorter or hold a lower clip or differ in price. I think they did well with that pack.
