Forum searched Dirt 3, hoping this post is not a repeat:

Looks like a 'reboot of a reboot' or some such. Apparently the third edition of this series will feature a different tone than the 'extreme sports' motif of Dirt 2 that drew very mixed reactions from fans of the series.

“I guess in today’s world, every day you’re dealing with people from all over the world. So it’s a British company and the last bastion of British publishing, and there is some pride in that, but it doesn’t take control of your life. It’s about the culture we’ve created and making the best games you can. Dirt 2: brilliant game but it’s all American accents, so maybe we’re a little over the top with those. Maybe we should fly the flag a bit more.” - Codemasters

At the very least, this is a series that doesn't just offer up the exact same experience every time and I respect that. Personally I'm hoping for a more traditional style and package than 2, to take nothing away from the fun factor of that title.

Haven't found anything else. Full story coming to Edge magazine released March 16.

I will probably only get this if the new WRC game coming out is lackluster.
Dirt 2 is an alright game, but the over-emphasis on the X-Games type events and lack of traditional rally events disappointed me.

Unfortunately we probably won't be getting the WRC game, so Dirt 3 it is for me. I haven't played Dirt 2 in a while, but I can't sell my copy because it's signed by Block and Pastrana. 👍

Why are we not getting the new WRC game? :(
Don't tell me it's an Xbox exclusive...

R1600Turbo probably means the WRC game won't be published outside of Europe.

That's no big obstacle because PS3 games have no regional lockout.

... and because I live in Europe :D
I do hope that is what he meant. 👍

I did mean that, yes. I don't know if I'll be importing it, we'll see. Maybe after the price drops a bit.

I liked Dirt 1 but then it went too 'underground' in Dirt 2. Maybe they can bring it back round again because the visuals, damage and physics where really top notch.

Robin.

I have to say the visuals and the damage were top notch in Dirt 2! Especially the detail of the damage, eg: when you crash into a stone wall, it falls apart. These sorts of things really impress me :p

Agreed! And what is this new WRC game of which you folks speak?

I thought PD had the licence for WRC?

I'm not too fussed about the Dirt series. Personally I think Codies messed up when they went all extreme sports on us. I'd love to see a PS3 version of the old Colin Mcrea series. Used to love that on PS1/PS2. I reckon Colin would be turning in his grave if he saw what Codies had done to his excellent game series of old.

Is this developer known for quality games?

They make the SBK series and more recently, the SSV8NC games.
