This is an idea that I had when I started a new game the other day: how far can you make it in the DIRT Tour using a single team?
The rules for this are pretty straightforward. First of all, start a new game. At the beginning of Season I, you must select a team that you will use for the rest of the game. This means that you may only use teams that are available from the very beginning. There are four of them: Osiris, Fidanza, Castrol and Slime. Because not every team has an entry for every class of car and event, you may therefore only compete in events that your team runs in (the only exception to this is the Gymkhana Academy). You may change your team at the start of Seasons II, III and IV, but you are still limited to the four that were available at the start of the game.
Furthermore, you may only compete in each event once. You are not allowed to restart races or use flashbacks - if you spin on the stage and come last, then you are going to finish the event in last place overall. That's the rule. Each event you compete in will earn you points that unlock further events. With this in mind, you must take part in events (the event and season finales) as soon as you unlock them. You are not permitted to double back at any point. If you fail to advance to the next season, you are out.
The objective of all of this is to see just how far you can get with the minimal reputation. At the end of Season IV and the DC Superseries (or whenever you retired), you should post your in-game level in this thread. The winner is the person who gets to the end of Season IV with the highest level.
Here are the rules in full:
1) You may only use Osiris, Fidanza, Castrol or Slime (or any other team that is available from the beginning of the game), except for the Gymkhana Academy.
2) You may only take part in each event once, regardless of your finishing position.
3) You may not do any of the DC Challenges (Drfit Showcase, Smash Attack, Bobsleigh Run, etc.) or World Tours as these have massive reputation pay-outs.
4) You are not permitted to use flashbacks or restart the race at any time.
5) If you do not advance to the next season at any time, you are out of the game.
6) You are not permitted to use any driver aids, with the exception of ABS.
7) The HUD should be turned off, but you may use whatever driver view or transmission you are comfortable with.
8) At the end of Season IV, post your in-game level in this thread. The winner is the person with the highest level, or whoever murders Christian first.
This challenge will (possibly) be easier if you have the Monte Carlo and/or Shibuya DLC packs. They are not mandatory (indeed, you could advance to the final even of each season without them), but may make progression easier, especially if you are limited in your chocie of teams. Likewise, the Power & Glory and Mud & Guts car packs will offer more teams (I'm thinking of the Fidanza Stratos and the Slime 205 here) in more events.
Have fun, and may the best man win.
