DiRT Demo video.
Great run, and thanks for taping your effort. 👍

The rally mode is by far my favorite as well. It captures much of what I liked the most about the WRC games. I'm still holding out hope Evolution Studios will make another WRC game sooner rather than later, but DiRT looks like it will keep me satisfied for the time being.

BTW: How do you like the G25 with DiRT?

Does the game support clutch or are you just doing it for the feel of it? nice set up too. I'll have one like it next summer after i pay off my Ninja ZX6 :(..

@ Breaker

We set up the DFP the other day and had loads of problems with dirt. The fact been that it was beyond pants, going from side to side, the over correction was stupid. My question is, how have you solved it with the G25?

BTW great run.

The clutch pedal is recognized in the game, but there is not clutch feature in the game. So I mapped the ebrake to the clutch and it works really well.

The thing I changed was mapping the ebrake to the clutch pedal on the G25 to better help control the car's angle when cornering by pumping the clutch for ebrake when needed.

Yep, it's only available from the US store... create a new profile for yourself on your PS3 and sign up for another PSN account... when adding your address, make up a US address and you'll be registered into the US store... Like I mentioned somewhere on GTP before, you will need a valid US postcode... I always use 90210 for mine ;) (That's Beverly Hills, incase you're wondering!!)

Can someone explain to me why there is different PS Network stores?? All the demos/games from all the regions work on all PS3's, so why doesn't each store have the same content?? Bloody silly if you ask me!

You might also want to create a Japanese account as well, there is instructions here on GTP somewhere... that way you will hopefully be able to get GT5 Prologue too, but don't quote me on that...

Ive got accounts for HK, USA, Japanese and UK just to cover most of the globe!;)

I think different stores have different stuff due to popularity for that title in that market or a market where a title of that type is struggling to do well.

Other reason is languages you need the different ones for all over the world.

It is abit silly and there should be one store but its kinda ok the way it is, if it means getting content earlier then its fine by me!

I think its worth waiting for - end of September.
Well, it looks like there will be a demo out before I will have gotten DiRT so I can compare then.

Deformation may be great, but until I actually play the game and compare my pros and cons of each I can't jump on one over the other.

In a word - Track Deformation.

This has always been the biggest niggle for me about off road games, Its a real selling feature for me, I was really disappointed when Motorstorm didn't have proper deformation like the render they did way back in 05.

I would definitely wait for the Sega demo before going anywhere near DiRT. I reckon the original Sega Rally games were some of best games ever and from what I've read it looks like they're sticking - in spirit at least - to the original but with a bunch of next gen features.

Obviously I'll have to play the demo but I have pretty good suspicion it'll be the one I go for.

If you look http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=72FCnoV8emo

at the trailers - the transition between road and dirt etc with the track deformation. You can imagine this being such a good feature. It's going to rule over DiRT

The Sega game doesnt have the damage though. And the environments dont look realistic at all. But you're right, the deformation is awesome, and I love how the car gets so dirty when you progress through the track.

SEGA Rally Evo will be totally arcade, with only 3-lap races designed to keep the player's speed up, as far as we've been told.

While those environment ideas are welcomed and may give some other devs some ideas, at least they will be a separate, unique game.

It ain't no sim, though.

Cheers,

MasterGT

Oh man, is there anything more satisfying than losing control of your cars and putting a huge dent into the crash barrier?

Oh - but can you also imagine taking a perfect corner one way and then on the next lap taking it different way but also perfectly because the track dynamics have changed.

To me that sounds satisfying.

i also learned on the second tech demo video that the AI actually looks for the groove and the grippier line on the track. Clever AI.

Interesting to see how you, as lets say, the leading driver could swerve out of line to make the following car hit a slippery part of the track because of the deformation and grip on the track changing in real time.

As strange as it sounds... I'm getting addicted to the slowmotion replay! I love the detail of everything! :D

Yeah, I've purposely had huge wrecks, just so I could slow-mo the replay on it.

It was originally done with polygons then they had to change to normal maps, 3D models mapped in to a texture.

Sega Rally doesn't look very good IMO and tt will be more arcady than Dirt. I'll be getting dirt since it has Pikes Peak and a ton of vehicles.

I love this game so much! It's awesome driving the Subaru's alone makes me want this game! Awesome detail on it. I haven't majorly wrecked yet but I intend to soon.....
