Am i only imagining this or has PD implemented track edge grip loss and dirt pick up on this challenge? I had a few runs through the sand at Laguna and the grip level seemed to drop for the next few corners. Also, grip levels outside the track seems more realistic now. Anyone else notice this?

Yes - in the Subaru challenge the car will NOT TURN AT ALL if you get any sand on the tires. Worst understeer/braking performance I've ever experienced in this game.

You can hit the dirt slightly on the up hill left hander on the ouside and still gain as long as your in mid rpm. if your gearing has you in 3rd around the corner switch into 4th you be surprised. as long as your not way out in the dirt. If you in 4th, which you should be. A quick on off is not that bad there if you stay in the throttle.

You must not go off track much AT ALL then lol. since the game came out you automatically lose grip when you go off track or have cold tyres, Naturally.

Maybe you just noticed it now because it's Sports tyres and have little grip as it is...

i was thinkng more people notice because theyre forced to not use SFR. Which you can drive in the dirt with

Yeah, noticed it too. The grip is gone for a while. I have seen dust on open wheel cars after driven through dirt & it clears up. Pretty realistic PD.👍

Watch the replay for these cars. (Subie, new event) The dirt pick up is the same as the open wheel. You can see it and fade away

When I watched the replay after my gold run. I could see the dust coming from the outside edge of the racing line(awesome). The grip also seemed less(more real) on the outside line. I never use SRF or any aids. I think PD did a nice job with this one.

My version of the game must have been somewhat advanced in time and recieved the updates already then compared to you guys....

I noticed it as well, but didn't know for sure if they had changed it or it was just me thinking it was different.
Appears they definitely did.

I think the griploss when u leave the ideal line is done better, meaning the car sticks to the surface way better if u can take the ideal line. At Monza u can feel it really well with all the highspeed "corners". Leave the black area and its almost impossible to return to the line without breaking! Awesome! This will sort out a couple of 10 year olds in their X2010! Woooo!

On the STI event if I don´t cut the Corkscrew, I can do the next left turn at more or less 130km/h if I cut it I have some trouble to keep it at 120 next turn, so I think PD got it right, because you need some time for the dirt to came off from the tyres.

Anybody check to see if PD forced the grip reduction setting to "real"..?? You ever race online or in a One Make Series with grip reduction set to "real"..?? My race buds complain bitterly when I set it to real. After a couple of races worth of being shouted at, I'll set it to "low" and they all settle down a bit. "Real" grip reduction combined with tyres, that I suspect most have ever raced on, is what has casued all the trouble for peeps...

i also noticed this. if you hit the dirt you lose grip and turning is nearly impossible.

Interesting fact. This also happened to me when i cut the corkscrew, but i never thought of the loss of grip was due to dirt still in my tires from the corkscrew :sly:

Ah so that's why my time was worse cutting corners than not... And why I couldn't stop for the corkscrew after trying to make the uphill a straight. Lol

The only difference is that grip reduction on the edge of the track is set to 'real' in this Seasonal. No other race had it set yet. It's called expert challenge after all.

Yes it seems tyres remain dirty for at least the next corner. very tricky, I have done them all on my main account but my ps3 was not updated if that has anything to do with it I am unsure, but i do know that i can't do the subie one on my 2nd psn after ps3 update lol. It seems allot more difficult now for some reason and i set up the car the same to the best of my knowledge (have to double check that) can't get down into the 1:35's. will keep at it and review my settings.

True... if you go off track you lose grip! You can check that on the tire indicator... it becomes red imediatly!

If u hit the dirt goin down the corkscrew and then try to take the next left hander, u just go off.. Even worse when you stay to far rite on the dirty side of the track!

The darker shades don't seem to affect the car so much, allowing some small mistakes or more aggressive corner taking, but the light sand is a lap finisher.
I realized cutting the corkscrew was way slower than gunning through and clipping the kerb at the bottom after slowing to a crawl to make the first left at the top of the corkscrew.
Nice touch from PD though. Forces people to hone their skills. 👍
