My thoughts on what is right and wrong with FFB in DR2.0 and why it's both subjective and objective.

Well put! Heavy stage degradation only results in more FFB understeer in my opinion with just visual cues the car was not tracking straight. Early on with FWD cars it was most noticeable, and even worse when conditions were wet. Once stage conditions improve so does the FFB.

Yeah the unplayable comments do amuse me. I don't get much feedback in my car does that mean its undrivable? :dopey:

In all seriousness I had no issue with how it felt personally I tend to have quite dampened FFB anyway so it didn't really bother me and it definitely wasnt unplayable.

I also don't hate Forza 7 FFB but according to people on the Dirt forums, not hating it is an absolute sin.

Edit:
So just played DR2 for the first time one my One X i got today. Oh my God it's like looking at a new game, the difference is incredible!

Well, if they're getting the legacy, surely they have to get the galant, hopefully they get other up to 2000cc cars like the Peugeots and the citreon xsara.

Citroën Xsara; Peugeot 206; Toyota Corolla and Seat Córdoba would make for an epic culmination to the car roster/2000. That was the last good era of rallying with the best looking cars, and the way to work out the best of legacy this game might leave behind for the years to come when more people end up recognizing it.

By the way. In group A in this game, shouldn't the Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 4 be the one in it rather than 5, like in the first Colin McRae game??

Fully agree that those rallying days were awesome. Personally my peak interest culminated 1998-2003.

There's zero chances of Toyota in Codemasters games though. Unless miracle happens.

Both of them qualify for Group A, technically as its still used as the basis for a lot of series the entire lineage of Evo's qualify.

In terms of WRC Group A, Lancers from A175 in '82 right through to the VI were all homologated for Group A.

Just had my career mode reset on the 10th stage on an Elite event due "because a discrepancy between local and RaceNet save data was detected"

**** this game

After being hooked on gts like crack since i got a wheel at xmas, i finnaly put dirt rally in to give it an honest try. I had given it a 5 min run when the wheel was new but not an honest attempt to run through stages. Well, now i am hooked back in. Even without a handbrake and shifter it is a great rush to fly through the stages in cockpit view with a wheel.

Point being, i am most definitely on the lookout now for 2.0 on sale or used. I need the lower initial cost because of the dlc, i want it all lol

Any tips???

Thanks for claryifing. I am not really a fan of the NZ potrayed by Codemasters having watched the real rally from past WRC seasons. However NZ always ignites good memories as It was the first event from the original Colin 1. PS1 era... I am f..... old. Damn.

There seems to be many different types of surfaces on NZ. If you watch the beginning of this video there are shots where the road have similar brown color to what it looks like in game.

Since Codies only use one long IRL stage for each location the variety suffers.

Just gotta keep your eyes peeled on the PS Store, Deluxe and regular editions have already gone on sale a couple times now

Two months into having the game I finally tried a 4WD car, the Group A Subaru. Yeah ridiculous, but I wanted to try the cars in chronological order more or less. And all I can say is the car is awesome. Compared to D4 and DR1 it seems planted yet spritely and can be chucked into corners, at least on gravel. I know there’s a lot of criticism of tarmac physics, but I think it’s great. Grip, baby.

This makes me slightly nervous to be honest. I wouldn't want to go back to pure DR FFB. Hopefully the SAT is intact!

Should be interesting to see what we get. Will it just be canned surface rumble or something else entirely. Not in the mood to relearn a whole new physics model. Still, can’t imagine it’ll be anything drastic.

It is necessary to give the degraded surface meaning through force feedback, pulling your wheel to one way and another + extra bumpy behaviour + extra understeer effect caused by the grip reduction. This is an off road game. Feeling the road bumps and how they affect your wheel movement should be mandatory, and Its beyond me how on Earth did they decide going the opposite route.

Sure I'm looking forward to the update though not expecting much of course, so I keep glorious xbox1 controller close enough. Always

This is why I haven't really touched the game since release. All the noise complaining about the FFB mean't that we were likely to get a change sooner or later, and I didn't want to play it to death while having what I would consider a subpar experience with the FFB. Besides, I had a massive backlog of other rally games to get through anyway.

So while I'm personally looking forward to the FFB update, I also hope for others sakes that the physics and SAT aren't compromised as a result.

The type of a customer that companies like the most. 👍👍

I don't think so, i didn't even bought season 1. Just the two standalone rallies.

Just want to know if i can complete career mode with germany and trade the game waiting for wrc8 or we Will get Greece finland and wales soon.

Assuming they are going to continue the fortnightly DLC releases, I wonder why the Season 2 schedule hasn't been revealed by now. The Season 1 schedule was out quite early.

Season 1 timeline was there quickly because they needed to show you that they are "serious" this time and to make you buy the deluxe edition. Now they have all the time in the world. The only obligation they have is, to actually release Season 2 at some point, but it doesn't matter when.
If we take the experience from D4 clubs, it can also be when the player count is already in serious decline and they try to revive the sales a bit.

An announcement is expected before the end of May. I'm sure theres probably some licensing tie ups to make sure are over the line and all parties are happy for an announcement. I remember S1 announcement was held up for licensing reasons.

Bought this a few weeks back, love it.

I've yet to do anything other than Time Trial mode simply because driving all the cars is incredibly fun.

I rarely make it to the end of a stage in general though - I am a sledgehammer in a style of motorsport that requires one to be a scalpel.

I'm the perfect rallycross driver though!

Picked up WRC7 last week just to give it a go as I felt like it could also be fun...aside from having the official WRC cars though that games physics are atrocious compared to DR2.0.

I do wish they'd bring the Super Specials into 2.0 though.

I would not say atrocious as they are using the game for official WRC esports and the same guy CM has used to test dirt2.0 is competing in it and said It was good (marketing statement or not and that applies anyway to dirt 2 too).

Season 2 wise. FYI Peugeot 205 RX and Ford RS200 RX added in car files visible on PC.

They weren't serious in the first place for only announcing half of the planned DLC. That's exactly why some people opted not to buy the season pass, including myself. When Season 2 comes is definitely their decision though.
