Welcome to the DiRT3 Event of the Week Competition! In this competition, events of all disciplines will be randomly selected and all the participants fight for the fastest time. This is a great learning experience for everyone of all skill-levels as we can learn from each other and ultimately become better DiRT 3 players!

How it works:
-Each event will run for ONE week, Starting every Tuesday 12:00 pm EST (GMT-5).
-Include the vehicle you chosen to set that time (you do not need to state which livery you picked).
-When you have a time you want to submit, just make a post here stating your time (so don't PM or e-mail me your time).

RULES:
-If someone asks for proof, Please include photo/screenshot proof in the form of a URL and NOT in. I ask that the photo is taken on the leaderboards that includes your set time, any used assists (where there shouldn't be any), and PSN ID/XBL Gamertag/GFWL ID.

-No Driving Assists are allowed except ABS.

-Vehicle Setup is allowed.

-Please DO NOT post photo proof via IMG tags. It clutters up the page.
-If there is an exploit or an unfair way to get a faster time (such as wall-riding in Rally Cross), those times will be Disqualified. I personally may not catch them, but if you do with proof of it being true, please let me know or make an announcement about it in this thread.

EVENT CLOSURE, EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 2011! Due to School Scheduling, I will NOT be available to manage a weekly competition, neither will a few other frequent participants, so I firmly believe it's best to just close it down. It was fun while it lasted.

I may not be able to get proof... but I might not be the fastest anyway, XD
 
Tbh I trust most people who want to take part, but in case someone feels uneasy about someone's time, having proof will have you covered.

Like if you madea run that's just 0.01 seconds faster, then whatever, but if it was like 10 seconds faster.. I'm calling bollocks on that. :p
 
Seeing as my previous best lap time which I set a couple of weeks ago was visible in AOS' proof photo, I decided to give it another go.

New best time (Garegu91): 0:29.314

Does it have to be in Time Trial? There's a lot of potential here for some seriously good challenges, but you'd have to do them in Single Race - like ten laps of the Casino Square rallycross circuit, with the total time being submitted.
 
Yeah I'll have a look into it. EOTW is supposed to build on your skill in every department... However, if one does not know the fastest way to make the one hairpin, ho do you expect them to have good results by doing the same thing 10 times in a row?


This is like straight-up fundamental training.
 
You can always learn in time trial and apply it elsewhere. The idea of having a ten-lap race is to encourage consistency. The focus of the time trials is on getting one perect lap in - but in having a ten-lap race, you have to get ten perfect laps in, because I know there's a few tricky corners scattered about. Like, for example, the hairpin that leads into the Coliseum on Figueroa Loop, or the bottom of of Aspen's Lakeside stage.

Focusing on the fundamentals is all well and good, but I think a part of the fundamentals lies in getting speed through consistency.
 
Ah looks excellent this idea. I will join in when I get DiRT 3 on my B'Day. (3 weeks :) )
 
Umm how exactly are we supposed to see an image that's 1x1 pixel in size? :confused:
 
No, no PM nor email..... It says Album, so I take it you uploaded to your album but it's 1x1 pixel in size..... did you set your album to private or something ....? :odd:

just use imageshack or photobucket.... or some hosting site...
