Dirty tyres?...

Theres definitely something going on, i've also found that after a trip across the grass/gravel it takes a couple of turns to get the feeling of any grip back, i try to go easy on the throttle after re-joining the track now.

Not only is there maybe dirty tires but does any else think that different tracks have different grip levels? I can take a car and put a setup on it that sticks like glue at Suzuka or the Swiss road thing (the name escapes me) but when I take that same setup to Fuji it feels like I'm on ice...while Daytona is somewhere in between and HSR just feels arcade'y.

nope, the dirty tyre feature was in the game since prolouge came out and i can say that with 110% because i friggin cant update my GT5: P cause my country is blocking the proxy for the server :grumpy:

Chris
you could try searching for a proxy server online and change your PS3 internet settings so that it downloads via the proxy, thus bypassing the ISP security.

Lastly another thing I noticed today, with pro physics in he PP700 races...it takes about half a lap to warm up your tires. The first corner at suzuka can be a real pain at the start of the race. I can enter at the same speed as the next lap but still slide and slide. The only thing I can thinking of is ires warming up...

So that explain it! I've had the experience of sliding all over the place after a crash into the sand pit. I thought maybe it was high torque while accelerating from a stop but this makes sense.

Cool. Very sim-like.

I don't feel the tires get dirty. At least not in Arcade Mode > Time Trial, since that's the only game mode I play.

The same goes for cold tires, most of my flying laps are done in lap one, without having to "warm-up" the tires first, and I can't really see any real difference in grip levels or laptimes, even in the first corners.

Are you using Standard physics or Professional physics?

The goal of time trial is to set the best laptimes, so the tyres are always in the best condition.

No wonder if somone bumps me off, or I do it myself and end up in gravel.. It was really hard for me to keep on track.. At first I thought I got nervous and lost my sanity of driving haha It could be dirty tires....

Your question really offends me LOL

Pro, of course.

But yeah, what CMir says make sense.

I'll do some events later on to check myself if there is tire dirt.

Is it possible that this is a software glitch. Tires heat up as the car moves along the surface of the pavement. It takes about a lap to start noticing more grip. I'm wondering if the car going off the road into sand or grass has the effect of making the car (software wise) think it's back at the beginning lap and therefore resets the tires to a cold state. Either way, a glitch or intentional, it works ;-)

HAH, yeah, No wonder I can never Do a proper HOT LOP with First try even If I try to keep a line.. to get tires really HOT, it takes 2 laps to have a good decent LAP time. For my experience that is

I have always wondered weather this was in my head or not. I mainly drive a 111R around suzuka and I cant tell you the number of times I have spun recovering from a spin. I have never been sure if it was dirty tyres or just the lower speed causing a loss of downforce or simply my brain. But what ever it is I do take it very easy for the next few corners when re-entering the track.

i read this the other day, and I thought it was interesting, but I put no more thought into it until last night. There is some sort of dirty tires simulation going on in GT5:P for sure, I went off a couple of times, and my cars was very slidey for a few corners. 👍 Nice find pal!

I find it interesting that's it's only triggered when your completely off the track though. When the throttle input gets cut.

As I said earlier, I've had times when I've had two wheels way out in the grass/sand, and it doesn't seem to affect the handling when I get back on the tarmac. But I've also had times where I cut the inside of a corner - think final chicane at Suzuka - for a fraction of a second, and this seems to generate the 'dirty tyre' effect.

Would be really exciting if they could just apply it to wheels, so the one or two wheels that go off course suffer the lower grip...
