disable all mics

is there a way to disable ALL microphone noise for the PS3?

i can't abide by people talking while i race so i'm limited to about 5% of rooms in the lobby, the ones with mics off.

Do you think Schumacher ever had to listen to Alonso eating crisps and singing lady gaga while concentrating on an apex?
Not a chance.

so why do I have to?

It's a waste of bandwidth anyway.


I know i can hit triangle and turn em off one by one but that doesn't stop people joining in while a race is on and mouthing off.
 
I know your pain it sucks when your concentrating and irratating people disrupt it so heres how you do it:
On the PS3 XMB scroll all the way to the left until it says "Settings"

Scroll up or down until it says "Audio Device Settings"

Then Scroll down until the Output device is selected press "X" and set it to "Do Not Use"
 
When online :

As Host : when making room set Mic option to disabled
As Player : Click on their name and "Mute"

I'm with you. It has always irked me that PSN just shows the low amount of interesting things people can talk about. Waste of bandwith and of my time 👎.
 
I connect my bluetooth headset, then mute it and put it to the side, then I can hear the car sounds thru the speakers. An easy way to get rid of blabbers.

damn, that doesn't work. I don't have a mic or bluetooth headphones (and never will) and it doesn't let me change anything in the xmb audio options.
All i want is a STFU button. Are there any hacks or something that'll do it??


Basically i signed up on GTP again just to find out if i can mute everybody, it's been killing the game for me :(


edit:
it also makes no sense that the swear filters don't let you type 'Tsukuba' while at the same time there's no option to filter mic inputs to my PS3. WTF is that all about.
