Disable Flashing Gear Change Indicator! *Success!*

It's all well and good saying 'use you ears to tell what revs/ gear you're in, but if the only chance you get to play GT is when everyone's in bed (missus and baby), sometimes you can't have the volume up loud enough to do that. And when you're in the heat of battle online, it can be hard to remember what gear you're in.

Check if you have a pair of headphones and your TV has a headphone input. It's really helpful.

wow people actually look and pay attention to that stuff?

You have to feel the fastest way to drive the car, not look at numbers and flashing gear change indicators.

TO me I don't really care what it does. I've never looked at it nor will I ever.

Just ignore it?

You can disable the HUD completely.

That said I support all customiaztions options in gt5.

This thread is to raise awareness about how the flashing gear change indicator (let's call it the FGCI to make it more concise) is disliked by many and should be removed.

Will you punch your co-driver during he report corner with 1 level down speed?

I agree if this is gonna be on the game then it should be a option like adding a gauge to your car tachometer shift lights should totally be a option to use or not use

No, I would not...
But with a co-driver, at least I would have the OPTION to tell him NOT to get into the car, and still be able to see my Tachy and Speedometer.. :D

And you definetly don't bring a co-driver in a F1, GTF or X2010... Do you? :ill:

haha honestly i find the codriver to be much more reliable than the actual gear indicators- that said, i agree that both pretty much suck. gt5 should offer an option to ignore both xD

It's only there to help you, and if you don't like it, ignore it or remove the HUD.

You can't "ignore" a flashing red light in the center of you field of view telling you when to start braking. I do ignore it in the sense I don't do what it says, but there's still a red flashing light on every braking zone.. it's ridiculous.

Wait...what? Remove it?? Hell no.
The only thing is that most of the time the gear shown is not accurate, one below the one I should change to.

No, we don't want to remove it...
We just ask for the possibility to turn it on or off, to the single individuals liking...

You want it, I don't... If we are allowed to choose for ourself, we will both be happy.. :)

Yeah I didn't read the entire message of the op, my mistake. It's fine with me to have the option.

uh ah, what light

MikaelK
It is the "red number" that lights up, next to your "current gear", with a suggestion for the appropiate choice of gear for the next corner... and the whole number is flashing red, when the game recon you are coming to fast into the corner..

THAT light... :D

I just wish they would give us the option the disable individual parts of the HUD. I want the tach and even gear change indicator but don't want the current lap times, splits, and track map on there.

I rely on this far too much, to the point where a braking point is determined by the third flash of the gear indicator instead of a certain tree alongside the track. Even when I'm fully immersed and I know I can take the corner a gear higher than what the indicator says, sometimes that will distract me and I'll become a sheep and slow down too much.

It's annoying, and doesn't encourage me to think for myself. It. Must. Go.

Agreed, i ve done my fair share of programming and this should be a simple fix, i garuntee they already have the code in their debug versions. All they probably need to do is implement the Menu options.

It's just a example(ignore poor editing):

I think it can be easily implemented.

Yea, that would be perfect. Especially for the enduro races. 👍

It would be also great if the round time & position pops up only for maybe 3 seconds when you pass the finish line every round. And maybe the sector times.

Fuel & tire indicator, more you don't need.

Send the pic to Kaz. :)👍

Yeah that makes sense^^

....but if it makes sense PD/Kaz go the opposite direction lately, basically that option list will never happen. Same with stupid crap like taking away our setup save SLOTS (A,B, and C) from GT4.. it makes no sense, so PD/Kaz do it.

Example... GT6 will be amazing in every way, but PD/Kaz will remove A-Spec completely. That's the kind of decisions I expect from them now.

I've never understood why that needs to flash like that.

I really miss the a/b/c save slots for set-ups big time!!
Who can remember the exact perfect settings for different track types on 200 cars.
They give you so many cars you can have - expect you to make your own spreadsheets for them. haha
