Guys im new to both the ps3 and Gt and im getting a very annoying problem that I keep getting disconnected from the server's half way through a race its driving me nuts.

Ive never had this problem on the xbox ( gold account ) but on the psn im getting it happen every night .

Im a psn plus member and I have a good internet connection , even racing my friend next door its happening yet on xbox/forza its never happened.

Is this a psn problem ? Is it maybe because psn is free that the servers are not that great ?

Any recommendations guys ? Like I say ive paid the extra for plus but thats made no difference .

PS Plus gives you free games and cloud storage, but not better servers. :)

I would, for a start, advise you to try clearing your in-game- and browser cache, and see if that helps. 👍

Thanks Dean I'll try that now.

I've had similar problems but a quick google search sorted my connection out. Google 'nat type 2 ps3'. It wil show you how to setup your router correctly. You can also check out Youtube. Some good videos explaining exactly what to do.
Goodluck:tup:

I have nat type 2 open , I have no problems with my router or internet only when playing gt5 online do I get this problem of being disconnected from servers ?
When I get home I will try what Dean has suggested and try again.

Having music on in online lobbies has long been known to cause disconnects for some people, turn all music off in GT5 & see if that helps. Also, clear your cache regularly, you'll find it in Options. Here's a few tips I posted a while back to help guys experiencing problems at an event I used to run: Optimize Your Internet Connection.

The servers were crap all weekend. Disconnects and room freezing at a very high rate.

Cheers guys ive cleared the cache and stopped my music (gutted) and I'll give it a go in a bit , are gt/ps3 server's know for being poor ?

are gt/ps3 server's know for being poor ? No, But they have money. But I have no problems with the server.

Poor generally? No. Inconsistent and sometimes poor? Yes, at least where GT is concerned.

If you still have issues, call your ISP and tell them that you need a router better for gaming. Guaranteed problem fix.

Clearing cache is a hit or miss type thing, some do it and some don't. I don't (since they put out a patch relating to cache, sometime early last year), ZERO issues.

4) Make sure that UPnP is enabled on your router (it's very important), you can check whether it is or not on your PS3's XMB by going: Settings/Network Settings/Internet & Connections Status List, & then scrolling down where it should say: "UPnP: Available". Once enabled, there is no need to forward ports on your router, or put your PS3 in a DMZ, as UPnP automatically forwards the necessary ports for GT5.

5) Your NAT Type must be either: NAT 1 or NAT 2! Go: Settings/Network Settings/Internet & Connections Status List on your PS3 to check, if it shows up as NAT 3, NAT Failed or NAT -, then please do not join My Lounge. Turn your PS3 off, then turn your router off then on again, wait for all 4 lights to come on, then turn your PS3 back on & re-check it.

Thanks for the link for the above post.

My NAT Type is NAT2 but:

I can not get the uPNP available, whether I tried to do it simply, or by entering my router's website and fixing an IP, setting that IP in DMZ and opening the GT5 necessary ports via portforward.com. As a result I never get NAT1 which is what I aim for.

Any advice?

To get Nat 1, I think I'm correct in saying that you have to bypass your router altogether, just using a modem. If you have the correct ports forwarded for GT5 then there's no need to have UPnP enabled, as all it does is automatically forwards the corrects ports for various games.
