Disk Read Error... UGH!!!!!

Does anyone here have any insight on how to fix this error? My pc wont start up past a certain screen saying ctr alt delete to restart. I have tried reformatting my pc and reinstalling windows as many people have said to do in other website i have seen. Sadly none of that has worked and safemode or anything doesnt work on my pc.
If anyone has any insight on how to fix this please help!
 
Ugh... Of course dell hardrives to fit my computer run about a hundred dollars for a good even 120GB
 
How old is this computer and is it a desktop or a laptop? The exact model number would help. Hard drives can be easily replaced for quite a bit less than that.
 
Its about 5 years old with a good amount of use on it. Its a dell xps 410 desktop.
Do you guys know what causes these problems? Does the hardrive just get old and tired and crap out or what?
(I wish i took the time to learn more about computers)
 
Do you know if the drive is SATA or IDE? You do not HAVE to use a Dell hard drive you know. If I were you I'd go to www.newegg.com and simply find a compatible drive that fits your budget.

A PC, depending on how you use it, is going to last 5-8 years before parts start failing on it. Some of them last a bit longer, some a bit less.
