Hi everyone, today I was throwing some water balloons at people and I dislocated my shoulder, like it was hanging down to my ankles. Well somehow I got my friend to help me pop it in, man was that painful. Its fine now doesn't even hurt, but I'm wondering if I should still get it checked by a doctor?

Yeah that's probably a good idea. Unless you have to pay through the nose for a visit to the Doc. But you don't want to end up like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapn!

My p.e. teacher in secondary school had that same problem. He was a great tennis player and his would pop out all the time due to his aces and strokes. It proably didn't help that he also played badminton and took students on skiing trips every year. So I'd think it would be wise to visit the doc and try not to throw water baloons so hard again, or play sports.

I would highly suggest getting your shoulder checked by a physician. Its good that you got it back in place though.

There is a huge downside to having it pop out though. From now on, you've got to be alot more careful when you do any physical activities. From now on, that should can pop out at any time. Be extra careful when lifting weights, throwing anything, and swinging your arm above your head. I've seen those 3 cases cause more shoulders to pop out than anythign else.

Sorry to hear it happened. Take it easy.

What KJII said above is the truth. Unfortunately, once it pops out, it's much more likely to pop out again. So definitely get it checked out, and follow the physician's advice.

Just hope you didn't dislocate it too bad. I done my knee in 2000, and it's still bad. I can't put too much pressure on my knee too often now, so kneeling on my knee wrecks it, etc. And the Doctors tell me it's growing pains...4 years later they tell me the same thing. Just hope you didn't do it too bad. 👍

Alright, thanks, for the advice, went to my family doctor with my parents, she checked it out and said it was fine but next time that happens see a doctor instead. From now on I'm not throwing anything above my shoulders.👍 This quite sucks though, I've already had a surgery to my stomach, around christmas last year, and the doctor said to stay away from sports that include running and other straining physical activities, now my family doctor tells me not to throw anything for atleast a year or so...I guess I can say goodbye to phys. ed class.....👎
*oh and I wasn't throwing waterballoons at innocent people walking around, I was throwing them at my friends, we were just goofing around.👍

The other day, I was kicking my neighbor in the throat and I broke my leg. Boy was I embarassed...

(With apologies and props to Dr_Inferno)

Just kidding. ;) Glad you turned out okay [and that your victims were willing!]. Must have a hell of a throwing arm to be able to disconnect it like that...
