DLC everything..is it worth me buying?

I've been debating with myself for the past week or so whether the everything DLC pack is worth the £10 or so asking price and i keep coming back with "no" just as i am about to click "buy now". just so i can have a couple cars from the dealership which i cannot buy unless i've bought the DLC...kinda sucks being able to look at the cars in my dealership and cannot buy them!

I just don't see a few cars and extra track or 2 (couldn't give a rats youknowwhat about paint chips) as value for money seeing how there is no new A-spec content where i can use these new tracks, that leaves just the cars...what's the bloody point of paying for just a few extra cars!?!

So, this is a question (obviously) to those who have bought the DLC, is it worth me buying or not when you consider the above?

This is for me and not meant to be a general DLC discussion.

Thanks!

It's worth depends on how avid a GTer you are

For me, the tracks worth it.

Agreed the track was worth it

I personally hate all vws & the new mini IRL, so would be stuck with them & they would never get used & just gather dust in the corner, as you can`t sell/trade them. :(

For the first DLC pack? I think so. Especially now that PD has ironed out most of the problems with it.

The two new VW's are actually really fun to drive. They're fast(considering their power) and very agile on stock tires. The new Mini also seems to have less understeer than the current ones. Then there's the TC cars, which are great to drive, though there's not a whole lot of races you can enter them in.

Spa is amazing online(as long as people understand not to go off track in high speed turns!), and Go Kart track is a welcome addition. The colours are also nice to have. Overall, if you play GT5 a lot, then I'd recomend buying the DLC. However, if you only play it once a week, then I'd give it a pass.

Well, I have said it multiple times: "I'll buy whatever Kaz throws at me", Im a long time loyal fan. Not only that, I know that PD's DLC will be of high quality. BUT. The TC cars arent the best choice if everyone's in the room has entered with race cars. They need some good tuning settings. The Scirocco and the Golf are very fast, im fond of them both. The 2012 GTR can be upgraded up to 938 HP/660 PP, making it the fastest Skyline road car in the game yet. You cant race Spa online now or Kart Space, after the patch. Technically you wont ever be able to race Spa, only see it in B-Spec Seasonal. The gear are good to have to, Stig's outfit, WRC outfits, Nascar outfits, if you're into that stuff. But, why listen to me? I play GT5 every day. As staed above, if you play once in a while and mostly offline, then I wouldnt recommend it.

If you know someone that has it and you are able to check out the dlc cars I would do that to find out if you like them, if it's an option. I myself bought it and feel I wasted my money on the cars of the first dlc as I rarely or even use them at all. The paints are pretty cool and the spa is great but it's the only real track in the dlc.

I actually like the vw's of the second dlc. I mostly prefer street cars which would explain why I don't really use the tc cars.

i'd just like to thank the OP for asking the same question that was on my mind, pretty much the same word for word lol.

and also thanks to everybody who answered. i think i'm going to give it a miss. im still reeling over PD's response to all those ebay losers in the 1.07 patch. the restrictions on trading are now draconian thanks to those ebayers grr lol :)

I couldnt agree more. Production cars is what it's all about for me too. However, after checking the 24h Nurbrurgring race, I would like to have that Hankook Italia and the Golf which was in Kaz's league. What I want in future DLC's is production cars, real cars. Not nessesarily supercars like everyone wants.

Me too. Although it'd be nice to have some more low-mid end sports cars/MRs
I like the NSX and RX-7 and RX-8. More MR road cars which are affordable would be great!!

No tuners lol!! I like to be able to tinker :)

Hmmm...this is going to be tough. i would play everyday IF 5 had as much content as 4.
As it is, i only play when there are new seasonals for the XP so i can finish the last enduro...once that's done it will be back to the fortnightly seasonals.

With that in mind i spose it's not worth me buying just so i can get the new X2011 and Scirroco :(

Here's to hoping PD actually release more content.

Happy new year everyone, and thanks!

Go for the Map Pack from the first set of DLC and then Car Pack #2. :)

Truthfully, I haven't made much use of the TC cars, the Paint Pack, and the Gear Pack.

Thanks, but what's the point if i there is no A-spec content that comes with it, or add it to existing A-spec content?

It's definitely worth buying the first pack but if you were to buy the pieces separately you would get the 2011 Toyota FT-86 Concept II as a free gift so I would probably go that route.

this is how i look at it. are you going to go to see a movie in the next couple years before gt6 gets here? AND how long will that movie last? 2 hours? that will cost you about as much as the dlc. AND how many hours will you use the track, cars, paints, and gear? probably a lot more than 2 hours. so as a cost analysis will be able to tell you if its worth it. for me, it was a no brainer, YES! it will be pennies per hour of play so that is worth it to me.

That's just it, it's worth it to you but not to me. as much as i want those extra cars and tracks, it's not worth it because i don't play online. i never bought 5 to play online. when i heard 5 had been released i ran to the shop without reviewing or reading any reviews and bought it. the first time i popped the disc into my ps3 i was floored at how little content there was...

So, now they want to charge me for a track and car or 2...how do i add the tracks to A-spec content? how much use will i get from the cars if i only have 1 enduro left to complete and will NOT be re-racing A-spec again?

As for paint chips and gear...who cares about that!? seriously  :yuck:

To those who play online it might seem that i am moaning and this is another moan thread BUT, i DO want to buy the cars and tracks (Spa is an AMAZING TRACK AND I WANT IT!), but i cannot justify the cost. i will have them and not be able to use them due to so little content and no new content to accommodate the new tracks and cars for those of us who do not play online...in fact if it wasn't for the seasonals i would have stopped playing 5 a long time ago.

After hearing what you peeps have to say and after sort of reasoning it out for myself i have come to the conclusion that it's just not worth it for me and so will stay clear...unless PD do the right thing and add a few hundred more events to A-spec.

happy new to you all!

Close thread please :)

I mainly bought the DLC for spa, but since 2.02, spa lobbies were cut in half, its a real shame

As for the cars, I rarely use them. Most of them I just got in, painted, and never used them again.

Same with the paint. knowing I have just 1 of each really sucks. I know you can dupe them but thats a huge hassle and takes 48 hours just to paint a car. and only works on tradeable cars. so I essentially never use the paints.

VW's are rubbish, don't know why people like them, and totally outclassed at pp levels.
Mini is so so, GT-R 2012 with racing clutch installed is amazing. so only one car out the 2nd is good but the GT-R is worth the £3.19 alone.

Most of 1st DLC is good, especially the Mazda's, Subaru and the monster R35 GT-R

It totally hinges on to what extent you're fond of Gran Turismo as a real fan of the series, I don't think you shouldn't buy the pack if you don't mind finding a few new stuff at the cost of your cash.

The TC cars are worth it - especially the R35 TC (quite fast). Tracks are definitely worth it, especially Spa. Gear is worth it if you prefer camo/Stig/Kaz's helmet. If you want the tracks and cars, just buy the Complete Pack (far cheaper).

"Car pack 2" is pretty good. Didn't know the Sciracco (sp?) was FWD, but it (excuse my language) kicks ass and sounds pretty good. The Golf cart is also pretty good. Mini is...well...a Mini, nothing new really. The GT-R is where it's at though, but somehow it's slower than the Spec-V (unless it's just my driving).

DLC worth it? In my mind, yes. If they keep moving away from useless Asian cars (Civics, Miatas, etc.) and went for cars the community wants (older US/EU cars, super/hyper cars, etc.), GT5 would easily be the best racing game one could find (that is if they implement a better paint system and upgrade system and fix some other things).

Seems most people are saying the same thing, just saying it in different ways...

New question, IF i buy the car, where can i race those cars in an a NEW a-spec competition since i wont be re-racing the existing A-spec events...are there any new A-spec events to go with these cars and tracks??
That last leads me to my next question, are there any new A-spec events for the track pack?

The answer as you guys well know is, no new A-spec events.

Then for me it would be a wast of money since there will be no new A-spec events to go with it.

I have my answer :) topic lock please.

See my thread I started about PD releasing an event creation tool
so you could have endless A-Spec races!

If you have time, might I recommend waiting for the GT5 Final Complete Collector's Edition with unlock codes for all released DLC Packs and all GT updates on disc. Any problems with each and every DLC are likely fixed by the time they press this final GT5 blu-ray.

This edition probably will commemorate the GT5 server shutdown too... when that time comes.

That blu-ray disc is what I'm holding out for. :)

Yes

then don t buy it. problem solved..

sounds like an easy solution to me....

I agree with everything you say !

It also depends on a couple of other things

1. Cost - quite often PSN Cards are available cheaper, I bought a £35 card for £25 from a highstreet shop - can't remember if it was Game of Gamestation - Hot UK Deals often shows bargains like that, so in practice I paid less than £7 for the 1st complete DLC pack
2. My sons also play GT5, and by downloading the free family packs - they got extra cars on their accounts, and they loved that, it was another Christmas present! (I was a little disappointed they didn't get the suits & paints - they would have loved those as well!)

In practice, 12 more cars on 3 accounts, equals 20p a car, and we've used Spa in acade to race against each other.

I bought both the Complete Pack and Car Pack 2, mainly for bragging rights(lol). I still havn't used any of the paint chips that came with it, but you can tune the R35 up to 697 PP and it is just great. No wheelspin coming off, so 0-100 is super fast. The Challenger is good for drifts...I havn't tried anything else in there.
