...what this old article has mentioned? https://www.gtplanet.net/gt5-spec-2-0-is-coming-dlc-to-follow/

"The GT5 Spec 2.0 update is coming the 3rd week of October, with DLC following a week later."

Basically, 2.0 was suppose to be released today with DLC being released next week, correct?

If I remember correctly, 2.0 came out last Tuesday which was the SECOND week of October instead of the previously mentioned third week and I possibly think that SCEA already had the DLC ready for the planned fourth Tuesday of this month.

Thoughts?

I think originally they thought Forza was releasing later.

Realised they got the dates wrong and brought it forward to combat Forza.

Only reason I can think of.

October 1st was on a Saturday, which for most places around the world, is the end of a week. It counted as the first week of October. So the weeks thing is correct.

That's what I think. But my thoughts lead me to believe that SCEA may have had the DLC prepared for the 25th. Polyphony Digital may have jumped the gun and announced that it'd be released a week after 2.0 which is today.

If they were flexible in releasing the spec 2.0 update - through psn - at at different time then originally planned I don't see why they could not be flexible with the DLC release date.

Conflicts with other North American PSN releases? This is just my opinion though, I have nothing to back it up.

After announcing it, the only reasons I can think of would be:

Disputes over commercial rights (over Spa, the NASCAR suits or even stiggy's outfit)

Bad marketing move from SONY, avoiding clashes with NFS

lol using Spec 2.0 against Forza was like usinga bb gun against a tank.

Isn't the DLC in Spec 2 though.

Because Kaz didn't add any kei cars to the DLC :sly:

I agree. I was wondering why the spec 2.0 update came out so early, as PD said it would be released within the third week of october, so if you think about it the dlc wasn't really delayed, it was supposed to come out untill the end of the month anyway.

If the delay was caused by any of the DLC, it would have been delayed worldwide.

This is all on SCEA's hands.

Exactly. SCEA had it planned for the fourth week of October and the early release of 2.0 apparently didn't cause SCEA to move the DLC earlier.

It all has to be released in accordance with the Sony bureaucracy.

There isn't a reason for them to have an update idea ready to go and not have it uploaded to servers in an instant, other than that they must work with the official playstation 3 update process.

PD probably has a specific schedule to adhere to, so that Sony can cut the costs of keeping their PSN network functioning (cheaply).
