Do B-Spec drivers ever really push the car?

My Driver drinks beer with me, and I think hes on drugs! :( why PD put a driver BoB under drugs? why? he is so stupid! blind, drunk, under drugs bob.

EDIT. B-spec level 18, 3 drivers - all drunk at level 14. I think when the orange arrow (points down) appears it means hes drinking beer with other retard bobs at nearest bar.

EDIT2. and when the arrow is up and blue that means hes "high"? did I get it right?

not always, i went for a completely different strategy. i started with my Bob at full red. now he is lvl 22 and he doesnt do mistakes at all. Still not good at driving but at least he can actually keep himself inside the circuit lol
 
I like how when you are selecting a driver, he/she has ZERO experience in racing, soo WHY WOULD I HIRE THEM? Its like some dude off the street trying to be the next US president...oh wait..
 
Didn't have any problems until I hit the Vitz Race. Yeah you can laugh at it but my Bob is going nuts with braking way too early and getting on the gas pedal way too hard after it. :crazy: Someone just gift me the X1 so I can be done with leveling and actually enjoy driving some nice cars I have sitting in my garage.:dopey:
 
Last night I made another driver, lvl 0, i put him in a Audi R10 stealth lemans car and entered him in a lvl 21, 20lap race around deep forest, by the first lap he was front and had used up all his strength and was tired, he was very skitish but still managed to finish the race 1 lap in front of the rest.
And after the race he had gained 7 levels.

Use pace up when his hot/cool bar drops into the cool. Keep it at, or just above, the middle mark. Use maintain pace to keep the bar steady, rather than gradually increasing when you hit "increase pace" or decreasing when you do nothing. The bar will always increase when other drivers are near. When the hot/cold bar is near the middle, your driver will do quite well. Not as well as a human player can do, but much better than when his bar is off-center.

Simply keeping him in the middle of that blue/red bar isn't always good enough. I've watched him run in that "perfect" Goldilocks zone while driving a car that was significantly better than the competition and him still struggle for a win. I did the pickup truck race at Daytona earlier and gave him a truck with 50% more horsepower than the next guy, and he had trouble holding the lead when he really should have left everyone behind.

I had just done the same race in A-spec with the same truck and just held the throttle down without ever lifting, but my B-spec driver not only lifts but even uses the brake... on a friggin' superspeedway.... When I kept him in the middle or just right of the middle of that gauge, he fell to third or fourth place. I had to push him far into the red just to get him to limp along at roughly the same pace as guys with 200 less horsepower.
 
Got 5 drivers now (21,10,11,6,6)

I tested how to level new drivers fast, the result:

extreme series, first event (european), 2 laps Nordschleife, car R10 TDI stealth, money win 33.000, exp 7700, time needed about 16 minutes

Tested first with a level 6 driver, won easy (after the race he was level 11). So i though, this must be possible with level 1 drivers too.

It does, only thing you have to do is tell him "decrease pace" all time, till he is first. Otherweise he will loose control and spin soon after the start, cause he´ll be overstraind and permanent in red zone. Once he gets icecold it´s gonna be fine.

After the race he´s boosted to level 6.

I´ll try, if it´s possible to win the DTM series Nodschleife race with level 6 too.

B spec is weird. I have mine at level 4. I gave him a 700 HP R34 Skyline. 30-70% rear bias, He seems to do OK -ish.

I find that when you tell him to maintain this pace, after the bar runs out and you just leave him alone, You will notice that the bar keeps sliding to cool, He still maintains the same speed as say when you told him to maintain the pace when he was in the middle between cool and hot. So once he starts going cool even when you say maintain the pace, then just have him go faster, Never go 1/4 of the way past the red side, Any more and they just crash all the time.

My guy has won 10/10 races and has not really banged up the car a whole lot, That has
been my problem all along :)
 
My 1st Bob is at level 18 now and driving pretty well... most of the time! I found that a good idea was to avoid the harder 'one design' races early on and focus on anything he could run in with a massive car advantage. Once his XP has improved sufficiently, return to the Vitz and Roadster challenges with your superior Bob!

Seriously? I am BSpec level 12 and I have drivers who are class 12, 7 and 4.

I can enter any into some of the "Professional" series races and they act almost identically, coming mid-pack in a car that would win by 30 seconds in A-Spec mode.

I have yet to see any difference between drivers of different class levels, luck seems to play more of a part and if they have the up/down/side arrows against them.

A difference of 8 is tiny. I had a driver at level 20 and then I started working with my other driver and he was absolutely awful in comparison.
Their attitude also seems to make a big difference, try to pick the driver with the coolest personality type you can find, and those initial randomized stats make a big difference.
I rarely have a problem with my drivers any more and I'm starting to think people just pick the first driver that shows up on their screen, no matter how bad their stats are.
 
I was really frustrated with B Spec in the beginning, but now I am getting a hold of it. I can now pace my driver to a win.

I push him hard at the first lap, I can usually get him to within the first five positions in the first lap. After that I tell him to pace down, allow him to cool off, once he's calm and cool I start to progressively increase pace, but never getting him into the red for too long.

I try not to give too many commands, one or two per lap. That way he has time to cool off, and it allows me to tell him to overtake someone when I see a good chance coming.

Until I developed this strategy I was really frustrated, but this work now. He is winning and I am enjoying B Spec. He is a cool temperament driver, however, and I am not sure if the same strategy would work for a hot head.
 
Tested it out:

Touringcar tournament, 2 laps Nordschleife, 45.000cr. win, 10266 EP in about 16min.

A level 6 Bob can do it with the M3 GTR Racecar.

So if you are B-spec level 22 you can get new drivers with only two races from 0 to 10 in about half an hour.
 
So my first lvl23-driver is just racing in the FGT-Ch'ship.
First race he took the lead in the 2nd lap and since hten has been nothing but excellent. He gained a 50s lead by lap 27 without me interfering too much.
 
The key is keeping him calm, i think "pace down" means "calm down". My drivers are awesome, just keeping them calm and being patient, they will get the job done.
 
Last night I was doing the Club races in Amature hall.
At Tsukuba 10 laps, once in the Challenger R/T (driver @ level 4) and the other time on the Ferrari California (driver @ level 8). Both my drivers started the race and got a a good lead by lap 2. I left them with no instructions, and checked half way through the race they were ahead a good 4 secs. By lap 9 they were fighting for second place :confused: luckily I managed to catch it in time for tell them to pace up...they did so in the last straight for the win.
So does the B-Driver slows down automatically if you don't give him him any commands?
And to answer the OP yes they do push! :)
 
Last lap, although I had a pit stop in lap 27 my Bob just lapped the 2nd place driver with a nice maneuver on Fuji.
I really can't see the stupidity of the AI in B-Spec to be honest...

This is the perfect strategy. I felt I should add, however, these:

It is rarely necessary to give bob a command while other cars near him are increasing his hot/cool bar. If he starts to take a less-than-ideal line and spinning tires, then lower pace.

The hotter the bar is above middle, the more likely it becomes that b-spec bob will perform a laptime-losing action like spinning out or going sideways down a straight. It's like a random drop in an rpg... The hotter bob is above middle, the more likely you will find him spinning out. Some car/track combinations make it impossible for bob to drop a spinout/laptime-losing-action, however.

While cool, b-spec bob behaves as if he is unsure whether a race is still occurring. If he can't see any other cars, and doesn't hear from you, what do you expect?

Put Bob's bar right in the middle. He will not make any mistakes. He will drive consistently fast, following proper racing theory. His bar should only go hot when there are stressors on bob like other cars and you don't tell him to lower pace.

Overtake should only be used when Bob actually matches the pace of the car ahead of him. Overtake will make Bob take the inside of a corner, and attempt to get in front of his opponent as soon as possible.

In a word...no. Mine is usually at least 6 seconds a lap slower than me when im coasting. And if he is miles in the lead he will slow down even more, M.Adler .... more like M.Daisy

My Bob drives like the ground behind him is caving in under him. He bumps other cars, and even pushes slower traffic off the track. hes a dick, but I'd trade him for nothing!
 
Actually since the last couple AI patches they are much better IMO, when I tell them to over take they do push and try to pass. Still needs big improvement.
 
In my experience, Bobs get better but they don't really push it to the limit. Oftentimes, when my Bob spins and goes off-track, he even lets the car behind him pass first before even stepping on the gas. I don't know if i should be in rage or be proud that my Bob has driving ethics. :eek:
