Do cars stay dirty now?

I just realized yesterday, while watching a replay of my R8 LMS (Playstation version), that the front of the car was grey instead of black and on the rear bumper there were some white stripes. So I thought I'll have a look at the GT Auto store to verify my observations. To my surprise there was really the same "miscolouration" of the car. I gave the car wash a go, resulting in a clean and all black car again.

This is the first time I realized dirt staying on the car qms also seeing a difference before and after washing the car. Has anyone else noticed this?

actually this was the first time I noticed it.. it was just last week I saw it.. I borrowed a car from my friend that looked real bad.. Then I have a bugatti that I overused last month and was real dirty til I washed it.. Nice observation:tup:
but I still don't get what engine overhaul and chassis repair have a significant impact on O.o

I am pretty sure if you don't do these on a regular basis the car will lose both engine and handling performance.

To extend on that: You do Engine Overhaul once a car reaches 5000km, and the Chassis Repairs when you start to see strange handling problems, like the suspension responding slowly or not responding quickly enough over bumps, even at stiff configs. Something around that manner truly suggests a repair.

I went to change the oil in my GSXR/4 after my 4 hour nurburg race and noticed it was pretty dirty.

A little quicky wash and viola. :)

I am very odd when it comes to cars (I seam to like strange things) but there is nothing sexier than a dirty car that has just finished an endurance race.

To include realistic dirt on cars is one of those things that I wish they'd include on GT5, but would hardly appeal to the masses.

Although I am certainly not along in this. There are quite a few Le Mans winners at the Porsche museum in Germany where they have gone to reasonable lengths to preserve it just as it was at the finish of the race.

I believe it was mentioned a while back, that the cars do get dirty after a long while and neglecting to use the car wash. It takes quite a time of though, and it's barely noticeable.

I wash my cars all the time but this thread has raised my interest not to do it. I have never seen obvious dirt or discoloration on my cars but I guess there is reason to do an experiment since you all seem agree on this.

Never noticed my chassis was getting worse, no matter how hard/often i smashed it. I think this feature in the game is bugged. There are enough topics about it.

I had this dirtiness on my Furai for a while until I washed it. It probably came from the B-Spec Indy 500 I had won prior to cleaning it.

on 24H Le Mans my 787B from New car dealer was moved to stealthversion :P

but this is not dirt.. this "black" is caused from crashes. so there is not really dirt,

after you quit the race.... your car is clean again

It's been like this for a long while. Permanent dirt build up is very slow (and apparently limited to a certain amount so even if your cars gets very dirty during a race, it won't be like that after finishing it) so you will probably notice it on cars mostly used for griding credits and A/B spec points. What builds up on the car isn't what you see at the end of a race, by the way, and actually little of it, if any, remains visible after one (this is most apparent on dirt/snow tracks). To me it seems that permanent dirt is mostly proportional to the distance driven by A or B spec drivers. Also you can't see dirt in the garage, only on track and in GT Auto.

It looks like PD is afraid to show dirt on cars.
10 patches and they still haven't fixed it, so it must be a feature rather than a bug.

By the way, I used to have a dirty Furai too, here's a picture of it. This is actually the dirtiest it could get after a race. Too bad I didn't take a photo of the front end, it looked really weird:

You can also see how low-res and somehow wrong (it's transparent?) dirt looks.

yeah... its sad, last update they gave us the useless helmets and suits... but this kind of stuff is not needed.

Or someone of you are really lucky after changed a helmet? :D

they must update the game performence, but not useless things like helmets etc.

If you do an A-spec 24h race your cars livery is barely visible after 12 hours. And the dirt is gray not black.

It's as if PD posted last nights new events to shut people up. The whole process probably took 2 PD guys a half hour to create and upload. It was unimaginative and seems like a move just to calm us down. But it probably bought them more time to work on their move and [hopefully] 1.11. We can only hope...

So can you actually see now the dirt on your car in your (online) garage?

Would be great. I want to put my dirty 270.000+ km X2010 online. :D:tup:
