The update notice does not mention new Sophy tracks 😔
Monthly obligatory question: Any update on cars that Sophy can drive?
I think the Sophy updates are finished. It's going to be a great addition to GT8 and they are likely putting all the effort into that.

They have to retrain for the new compliment of cars/tracks, so they probably won't have anything that can be moved over to the GT7 branch in the data.

That's a boomer. Was really hoping to see more tracks added to Sophy.

@05XR8, how is the competition with the Reggie Races? Can we make it challenging at all?
Does the AI still brake check mid corner and etc?

Let's hope not but it's starting to look that way as time passes.

@05XR8 mind sharing your tunes for this group? Looking to create a modern touring car grid too. Thanks in advance ;)
Give me a minute with this dang remote play not connecting. Can’t screen shot and I really dislike snapping a pic of my tv to share car set ups.

  • Same ol’ Reggie
  • Same ol’ Reggie

WHOA, hang on, I may have spoken too soon. I was expecting GT8 to be coming sooner rather than later, but we're getting a SPEC III in December!!

Took me completely off guard. I wonder if this means GT7 is going long term beyond what we have now. I would've thought a big new GT announcement at this juncture would be GT8.

Crossing my fingers that the tyre bug will be fixed and AI throttle will be 100%, but not holding out hope given past updates.

Basic set ups how I run with SOPHY and Reggie. Adjust to accommodate how you race.

Finally got to do a new WEC race at Interlagos. 1h30, fuel and tyres x3, time x4, 2 Gr1 Toyota and 18 GT3 cars with replica liveries.

Started P8, managed to get to P6 after some great battles, came out of the first pitstop in P7, managed to get to P6 again, pitted and after all pitstops ended up P13 only to run out of fuel in the last turn and finished P18.

Once again the Chevrolet finished in the last 2. They use too much fuel, like I do (using the Mustang), and get recked spending time fueling. Most manufacturers finished together, but not all of them. Lexus was king again, followed by 1 of the Aston Martin and McLaren.

I have to try it again with x4 fuel and tyres and save fuel. Give it a go if you like long races. It was intense. Constantly lapping 35/low 36 for more than 50 laps.

I always wanted to do the 2016 WEC set up. It's the only one that can done semi accurately. Still missing another class.
It is a bummer that we don't have modern cars, but at least we have all manufacturers represented.

What would be a good car for a Ferrari Challenge custom Sophy race?

Wait til December for the 296 and then wait a few more months for SOPHY to learn it.

Though I'd guess the Gr.4 458 would be cool. It's one of the few Ferraris in the game I like.

For the Ferrari Challenge, it depends on what kind of car you’d like to race.

I’ve seen people do lightly modified F8 Tributos with racing hard tires and a rear wing to sort of replicate the high power/low downforce of the 488 Challenge Evo cars.

The 458 Gr.4 has a more accurate race prepped interior and doesn’t require any setup, but it’s kind of lacking in power and handles too well compared to an actual 458 Challenge.

You could also take the 458 road car, throw some racing slicks on it and do a bit of weight reduction and the racing exhaust to replicate the original spec of the 458 Challenge, that was basically just the road car but stripped out, with no added aero.

The only downside to the road cars is the smaller fuel tank, but using less fuel consumption or just doing tires only and no refueling can help.

So there’s definitely a few different ways to do Ferrari Challenge racing in GT7, just depends on what you’re looking for out of it.

Can you add wings on the 458 road car? Or the F30?

Well, here are the qualifying results for the last V8 Series race. Jaguar on top with the most pole positions this season with 4 out of 6 rounds. It understeers a lot, but it's still quick. I'd say by far my favorite all around performer is the Mercedes. 160kg has put me way at the back.

So this will be the last round which I will probably live stream on Sunday evening. Lots to do this weekend to prepare for our road trip so the time slot for the live stream has to change. The GT4 series will start after I return, and I may change up qualifying a bit by keeping the 2-lap format, but using the optimal time for grid placement instead of the fast lap.

Thanks @05XR8 for sharing your set ups. I went slightly different with mine and will tinker as I go. Cars are between 560pp and 585pp. All TCR, WTCC, and BTCC liveries :). Quite fun!

Regularly old Reggie is a guy to forget though. I've been spoiled by Sophy lately.

Yeah, I’ve booted up my NR-A MX-Cup and (on my alt account)Group C grid to get some good SOPHY races in. Just can’t be beat for action.
