Do pedals improve lap times?

I think most of the time is due to the really fast drivers having insane levels of skill (Aliens) in the positioning of the car, turning perfectly, getting perfect traction and braking on the limit.

I agree with what you're saying, and I have no idea of whether I'll ever be as fast as the aliens, but considering how bad my brakes are{and who knows how dodgy the accelerator pedal is}, IMO, I should find plenty of time at say Imola where there's 14 corners, so each time I have to hit the brakes, now I'll have a better brake bias/pressure, and the car should stay online.....think of the lost time having your brakes lock up, and then either deal with the overrun, or the transfer of energy thru the car when you have to come off sharper than you otherwise would.

If it turns out I'm no faster with the CSP's, then at least I know I've more work to do, or just don't have the magic eye, but I hate being slower and believing it's the equipment.....so for the relatively small amount I might spend, it'll be worth it, at least to me.

The nixim mod is a huge improvement than just the spring that comes with the pedals.

As soon as the money starts rolling in{I'm selling my house}, I'll be ordering the nixim mod, even though I want to max out the stock G27 pedals first, but it might take a few weeks for delivery as I'm in Australia.

I'm sick to death of set up changes and practice:sick:, I've done enough of that, it's now time to get serious, and a modified G27 with leather wheel and decent paddle shifters is in order:):)

@Shark, I did not even remove it. Could not figure out how to lol. BUT, if you maneuver carefully, it is not hard to just be careful. And you need a very small allenwrench to move the brake throw.
Thanks, maybe I don't need to disassemble the pedals to make this. I'll look at it.

I use G27 with Perfect Pedal brake mod.

Perfect Pedal uses hydraulic cylinder with load cell.

I could say ... a good pedal would let you make consistant and accurate brake performance repeatly, especially on endurance series games.

ah-bull

I have the same set up as you, and I agree with what you say about the Perfect Pedal mod being able to give you better consistency than the standard brake pedal.

I also find it help you regulate how much pressure you can exert on the pedal too. With the stiffer pedal, it's a lot harder to brake at 100% than with the standard brake, meaning I can brake at 60/70/80% etc of braking force easier, which in turn gives better corner speed than just mashing the pedal to 100% all the time then trying to modulate it from there.

Since I've had my Perfect Pedal installed, my lap times have improved considerably and I would urge anyone with the money to do so, should seriously consider this mod.

I observed that using pedal / perfect pedal needs to brake earlier than that of DS3.

using DS3 seems to have shorter brake distance travelled.

You still need to disassemble the pedals to move the brake up 1 notch. The only reason why he suggests taking it off is to make sure you have NO chance of breaking or loosen something up. You can see in my pics where the brake itself is separate from the housing of the load cell. That is where you move it, the load cell & housing itself never moves.

Once completed, you will need to mess around with your load cell to find the right spot for your liking. I love where mine is at. I am also selling my tuning kit on ebay right now btw for anyone interested. Only things NOT included are foam lubricant, and 30% stronger gas spring. All other springs and accessories included.

I found the load cell cable, but I can't unplug it, too small.:irked:
This is the cable:

Thanks for the info, I won't remove it:tup:

Ahhh, the story of ALL motorsports, heck all human competitions. Everyone has to agree with this sentiment.

It's a very very big improvement.:dopey: I was shocked. After some laps, average lap times decreased 4-5 tenths! Incredible good, now I'm happy with this pedal.:D:tup:

Another thing I noticed mainly on open wheelers, is that if you have the brake bias heavily weighted on the front, the front end will vibrate and move towards the outside of the track, typically where inertia is carrying you, so once again you're off the racing line and trying to compensate for poor braking.
