Do red rims look good?

That's my exact outlook on rims, this thread was simply to ensure that my friend never paints rims red again. xD

So wait - you start a thread which essentially asks for our opinion on red rims? - okay.

Then, after pretty much everyone says "they look alright, if...", you get a reply basically saying that they are horrible - 'FULL STOP'. You agree with this and say 'that's all I wanted to know'(?)

Kinda' pointless is it not?

Imagine me saying: "my wife wants a Polo, but I think they're horrible*. What do you think?"

Members A, B, C, D - *Give the positives and negatives.*

Member E - Yeah, they are horrible.

I see what you mean, I apologise for not making my point clear. What I meant was that although red rims CAN look good in combination with certain colours, I don't like those combinations. I prefer a more mature colour combination, therefore I am biased towards red rims.
After reading your comment, though, I have decided to bring these combinations to my friend. Hopefully we will agree on some colours =)

I like the idea of using Blue Hera, it's a gorgeous colour. Your friend's idea is a bit boring and somewhat juvenile, though it does grab the eye. How about a white or silver car with Blue Hera rims? Or a Yellow/Dark Blue combo?
 
I Honestly think that red rims look good on a white or black car (maybe even gray). I have matte red rims on my white S15 Silvia and I think it looks quite good.
 
I had an '87 GNX painted Nero (from an F430, or a 458, can't remember) with gold chrome rims, and dropped to the ground.

I do not know if its an age thing but for me rims with any bright colour only seems to work on real life time attack cars, drift cars and the 911. But that is only because these cars are designed around the rim colour ...or at least there are always other elements that share the bright colour. There are plenty of good examples. So for me unless there is an editor that allows you to put on your own stripes and such, I do not get it.

BTW if we DID have a capable livery Editor, and your friend HAD to have bright wheels, I would highly recommend this:

I'll have to agree with you. Black cars with Gold rims is probably my favorite color combination. Never been a fan of brightly colored rims, but then again, I am 46 years old.:sly: Also not a big fan of dropping the cars all the way to the ground either. That may also be an age thing.:crazy:
 
I personally like a Nero Nemesis body and Matte Red rims, got all my race modified cars painted in that scheme. 👍
