Do seasonal events require an internet connection?

Yep, all of them. If you are not connected to the internet & signed into PSN the seasonal events section will not allow you to enter it.

The game checks to make sure you're running the current updated version of GT5, then it downloads the Seasonals and Online Car Dealership. It's not able to get that information without internet access. Once you have gone to a track, if your internet connection is terminated, you can repeatedly grind that race. However, for some races you leave the track if you finish 4th or worse.

What I want to know is WHY?
Are they collecting sample data as to what cars and tracks people like to race? Are people simply grinding for cash ect...

Not that I mind if they do, it would just be interesting if PD collected this sort of info put it all into a big database and from there formulated there future product plans.

Why do you have to be connected, Well Whenever PSN goes through their update on Tuesday Night/Wednesday, PD also updates with new Seasonals and OCD. Its like its Built in with PSN. So no Update to PSN =/= No Update for GT5.

Yes, but there's a loophole. When you enter into any Seasonal event, disable the connection. It should allow you to repeat it as many times as you want, but I must warn you that it does not allow you to save until you exit.

They use to have prize cars I believe...its been so long since they have, now I cant remember. But, recently no...just suits and helmets.

It would be nice if you just had to log on once to recieve the newest updated UCD and Seasonal Events and be able to race them online or offline. Sometimes I would prefer not to log on for the fact the servers have issues sometimes which can cause longer load times and glitches during normal gameplay.

Unfortunately they do ! In fact this game is virtually useless without an internet connection as I found out the hard way when a storm knocked my internet service out and could only access a few modes of the game !

Nope, you won't get anything if you gold all the Seasonal events, just racing suits and helmets. But for some Seasonals, they offer some tickets that are technically prize cars (e.g. Expert Seasonal offers 22/23 level tickets at pole position).
