Do the Rotary engines sound like rotaries?

I'm toying with buying a stable of RX~ series cars:

FC3S, FD3S, RE Amemiya and 787B.

My question to you is twofold

(1) in stock form do the rotaries sound like rotaries or like 4-bangers or v8's? and
(2) in modded form do the rotaries still sound like rotaries or like high-pitched whiners (see the LFA's beautiful exhaust note disappears when modded).

Nothing sounds sweeter than a bridgeport or j-ported rotary. So help me save some cash....

Don't have a 787b yet but the RX-7s sound very like Rotarys especially when idling.

They loose a little bit of the charateristic engine note when modded but still don't sound like a 4-pot or V8

Dave can you do me a favour....keep your RX-7 fully modded, but remove the exhaust and test it. Let me know if the exhaust note is different.

Mazda 787B is one of the Best Sounding Cars in the Game , not really a Screamer but it does have different sound to almost all the other Cars

F1's will probalby be louder as they Rev a bit higher (i think ? )

Oh I don't want a screamer. I have a Corvette, McLaren and GTR for that. I want a loopy rotary sound.

Is the 787B in the online recommend list? If so you could test it with your own ears. I really dont know if im confusing it with my favourites list or not.

I drive a RX-8 in real life and the RX-8 in this game sounds very similar to my car. Once tuned, it sounds like a jet taking off
