I was just thinking the other day, what is the point of race-modified cars?
There's already plenty of race-orientated tuning options available at our disposal. Isn't fitting a major weight reduction kit, increased chassis rigidity, racing tires, customized suspension, race clutch, body kit with spoiler, etc. enough for a car to be considered a race car? And if not, then what is a race car? Because it seems to me that adding many parts that have "race" in their name indicates that by adding those parts, I am in fact building my own race car.
Now honestly, I believe that GT5's current race-modified cars are simply a ploy to cover up the fact that GT5's tuning system is severely lacking by today's standards for console racing simulator. By not allowing the user tune his or her car to the extreme level that other console games have incorporated at this point, they are crippling the user in a way that forces them to conform to PD's arbitrary definition of "race car". At its core, its simply a mind trick that leads us to believe that we're getting some type of special car, when in reality, we are getting a car that has only been tuned to the level that other games allow every car to be tuned to.
Rather than have race-modified cars make a return in GT6, it's pretty obvious that I would like an increased amount of tuning options. That'll let us build our own personal "race cars", so to speak.
And sorry if this post is garbled or comes across as if it was written by a crazy person, I was pretty tired at the time I was writing it.
