Do you have real life drifting aspirations? If so, what car would you use?

The title says it all but basically, I'm not gonna act like I'm even close to being able to do this in real life but I know I have dreams about it so I thought it might be fun to ask who else has drift aspirations, regardless of how outlandish or impossible the odds are for you. If you could, what would you wanna go for? What car would you want? What would you want it to look like? Would you go to the newly forming D1 US Gran Prix or what?

Now, of course, guess it's my job to start off and it's a hard call for me. I know that my true love is the FD3S RX-7 and the one in my icon is beautiful so I would want one that looks like that. The APEX RX-7 is also amazing but it is stripped down like a race car, not much left of the interior or anything of that sort anymore. Whatever car I choose, I would still want and need it for street use and day to day driving because hey, if I love my car, I wanna be able to drive it all the time. Tell me I'm wrong!

But for the RX-7, I like the white with a black hood and maybe a conservative design on the side. Something red like the APEX RX-7 but not as much. I like the white and black with just a touch of red. -- Either that or yellow with a black hood. Maybe carbon fiber hoods, more for the looks than the belief that it would take enough weight of the car to matter.

The second choice comes in as the Lancer Evolution VIII, finally, the US has a Lancer Evolution. I saw one of those on the dealer and I would have killed to have been able to drive away in that car. In that instance, I'd have it painted that palma red from the Evo 6 and Evo 7. Black hood again, carbon fiber maybe. Then the ralliart pin-striping I think is what it is, the striping that was on the Tommi Makinen Lancer Evolution 6. Maybe an effective carbon fiber racing wing.

The RX-8 is also quite a looker but I wanna give it some time on the market and see what tuners and modifiers can do with it first.

Oh yeah and what would I use it for? To be honest, the thing that strikes me is Targa Rallies. For those who don't know what those are, they are huge get togethers of people and their cars that can range from brand new import tuner cars to classics like old Jags and whatnot. I think basically all you need is a car you think has a chance and a co-driver. It's done just like the FIA WRC or any other rally, but they're all on pavement / tarmac. Same plan though, cars start at 1-2 minute intervals and the lap time is what decides your ranking. Of course with all the people who are going to show up, I don't think many people come with dreams of winning but for me, it would be fun to just tear up the road and see how fast I can be. Win or lose, you get a closed course that you have all to yourself and your car to give it all you've got and use your car for everything it's worth. But you don't wanna go overboard or you might end up like the dozens of people I saw crash out when they hit corners too fast.

And yes, I would be using race drifting as my driving style because I think it would prove to be the fastest method of driving. But I would use whatever turns out to be the fastest. Whether or not I used it in targa rally competitions or not. Drifting would be a side hobby for me either way.

I'm not able to afford a new car and the one I have is a no go but it might very well be possible to afford that RX-7 I want so badly, the problem is location, where I live is not safe for a car like that. So I'd have to look at relocating somehow first.

I would also wanna look into those drifting competitions. They look like fun and even if I'm not gonna be competing in them I would definitely show up to see as many of them as I could possibly make it to.

:D I guess I went a little bit overboard on this. Unlike me, maybe you guys can keep it to just one car instead of jumping between three of them. In a way though, I did keep it at one car, the FD3S RX-7 is still my dream car.

Now it's you guys' turns!

Oh yeah and I do realize this might not really be the appropriate place for this conversation but I was asking who has real life drifting aspirations after doing it in GT3, or seeing it somewhere else like Initial D, so it does kinda have to do with GT3 drifting.

My aspirations, are to REALLY drift, im buying a s13 soon, and im goin to take it out to the raceway 1 hour drive away from where i live, i am so going to thrash that s13! and for a dream car i would pull out an nsx around the track!

The S13. :D Yet another sweet car. I love that one I saw on Tuner Transformation, it doesn't get more beautiful than that to me. SR20DET. Brakes from the R34 GTR. They slapped on several adjustable features to the suspension. The picture on their page doesn't do the car justice, on the actual show, it was just oh my god beautiful. The owner said he wanted to break into the drift scene. I think with that car, he won't just break in, he'll stop the show when people stop to gawk at his S13 but that's just me. I'll stick the image on at the end of this post. The image looks too dark and pictures taken from the front like this always make the car look fat but imagine the paint shimmering and lighter and you'll get the idea.

Milefile, no offense man but to me, "what's your favorite car?" on this thread would normally refer to the car you use in GT3 to drift, not your real life dream car and what you want to do with it but it could refer to that too, I guess. But if you're going to post on a thread, you should contribute to the conversation, don't you think? We'll all here to talk and topics are bound to get covered more than once, it happens. There's really no need to point it out.

This is in the wrong forum. It should be in the "Drifting & Other Motorsports" forum. This forum is for GT3 drifting topics only.

Yes, I acknowledged the fact I had probably posted this in the wrong thread but I've seen a conversation or two here that was not directly about GT3. But, of course, as I said, I posted it here because (1) I missed that forum, heh, I don't look outside this one much so that's my fault. (2) I asked if anyone got so into drifting from GT3 that they wanna do it in real life.

But anywho, regardless, can't they move threads or something? I saw a thread marked as "moved" earlier. If a moderator or whoever it is that can, can move it, yeah, I'd say we outta move my conversation to a more suiting forum. Sorry for posting it in the wrong area. I don't think it's too big a deal. :D But someone move me!

Well, we sure are getting creative with the " What's your favorite car" variations.......

However, I will respond nonetheless......

I have drifted in real life, in my old 91' 240SX SE coupe (S13), hence the name (silviadrifter)... Unfortunately, due to drifting, I blew my engine, and ended up selling the car for parts...... I plan on purchasing another Coupe (PS13), or even a Hatch (RHS13), in the near future. I'm in the process of selling my 91' Jetta GLI, so as soon as it is sold, I should have another S13........

;)

Right now i'm working to buy my cousins 240sx,he drifts it, but i have to learn the basics before i try lol... hoping to do an s13 headlight conversion, and engine swap but that won't be till winter or later...as for a dream car,i wouldn't mind taking a R32 for a few laps on a track :p

this is my baby...

My friend just painted his kinda ashy color looks clean no dents and hes going to fix the interor i think....well i want a supra/trueno/mr2

I was kinda hoping this topic would be moved to a more suiting forum. I was sleepy last night when I posted this and wasn't thinking right, so I kinda forgot there's a whole huge selection of forums outside of this one to post this stuff in. My mind was only working line "GT3 forum / GT3 drifting forum" or something, I was really kinda outta it.

But hey, looks like I drew some attention anyway. PhameWRC, nice car man. I envy you for that one. I was looking around at them because they're cheap and I just want a car to start with if nothing else and I couldn't find a single one on the two places I normally look for cars. I mean, I saw some Corollas but none of them were the GTS Hatch-back and that's what I want if I was going to get one of them. -- I always kinda go soft when I see one of them, and think "man, how funny would it be to blow people off the road with a little Hachi Roku?"

I know I sound like I can't make up my mind but the top two cars on my list are the FD3S RX-7 and the S14 Silvia / 240SX. I might end up with a 240SX as well due to how cheap it is, only 4,000 or so dollars blue book value but then again, the amount of money that has to go into it to make it suitable for what I want would probably bring it up to the point where I might as well get the RX-7 because then I'd have the car I want the most.

Like I'm sure many other people here, I just happen to like many cars. But those two are the top ones on my list.

I want a actual S14 not the 97 240sx S14 chassis(It looks like a s14) But without the silvia badges and lights on the front< But if I do get the american 97 240sx I'm gonna add silvia lights to the front.

s13 or 240 coupe w/ s13 front clip.

that car is too sexy. i love it. this old lady near me has a gold 240 that i hope i can buy off of her one day. coolness.

heheh get to know her.....lol then she might give it to you cuz thats how most old people are....they cant drive any more so they ether sell there car or give it away...

Ryen, U.S. 240SX is the S14.. there are two versions..
In gt3 the S14 has 240 in its name but anyway, The US 240sx (95 and up I think) are built on the s14 chassis. The 97 240sx lights are the closet to the s14, But when I get my car they will be replaced.

Aslo , There are two diffrent versions, one doesnt even look like a s14 if i'm right, Atleast not in the front.

There were several variations of the Silvia in the US starting from the 89' 240SX which clearly had the S13 back end and tail-lights but had an almost 180SX-ish front end which was dubbed a "One-Via" when that combination was made in Japan. I personally think that combination looks terrible but you can of course buy the car and order an S13 front and have it put on and bang, S13 Silvia in appearance.

The 1995 240SX 2-dr Coupe or 240SX SE is the Silvia platform but the car was made to be more of an economy car over here and not the sports car that it was in Japan. So you're looking at an engine swap and better brakes, suspension, you can order the S14 front bumper, rear bumper and I'm not sure about the side-skirts, I think the sides are different. Whenever I look at them, the cars look almost the same but I know they're different in the front and back.

But you don't have to let the fact that it requires so many changes daunt you, I mean, wouldn't we all gut the stock stuff off the car anyway? So it's work you're gonna be looking at doing no matter what anyway. Very few cars are truly performance-worthy right off the show room. -- I've heard that obtaining an SR20DET motor that is reliable and trustworthy is a very hard process. But I wouldn't know that for sure. I also know I can think of a few people who could find me a reliable way to get one if I went with a Silvia.

Or if I went with the alternative. I also have a liking for the 180SX and that of course means a 1993 240SX Fastback. But I don't like the tail-light arrangement on the one that appears in GT3. I like the other one, the arragement that was on the Sil-Eighty in GT2. I'd be very picky about that but I think the 93' 240SX has the right tail-lights.

Speaking of the Sil-Eighty. If any of you are interested, here is a page you guys might find interesting: "http://www.sileightymania.com."

I dunno that I'd ever want a Sileighty but I know I like 'em and this dude has a really nice one.

And this is the 93' 240SX Fastback / Hatchback. These images came from "Kelley Blue Book." If anyone wonders. You can often find an image of the car you want by looking it up and they provide semi-decent images as you can tell.

LOL, sorry to be such a post-whore, as it was termed on another thread. But I'm just sharing the images if anyone was curious or unclear and because I'm a sharing person.
