Do you have real life drifting aspirations? If so, what car would you use?

Whoa, where are you going to get a PS13? Import it? Aweful lot of money for a subpar car. Only coupes we have here are MS13's (DOHC) and HS13's (SOHC).

Ken Gushi. A real life Tak. He started driving at 8 and was taught somehwere along the line by his dad howto drift. Also, the D1 drivers and my aspirations to do promotion for such a horribly promoted event. I mean, it has so much potential that even dragsters see how exciting drifting is. When Drift Showoff alongside D1GP driver search came to South Florida, the attendance wasn't that bad, nor was it that good. I think it could be better. I think I could make it better.

not too good of a car to drift...and i hope you know someone who knows rotaries so he can rebuild the 13BT when it blows ;x

here's my car, 1991 RHS13

and here's my car and my friend coy's car.

and i dont have ANY drift aspirations, i know i'll never be to a level with D1 status drivers...so for now i'll just have fun with it until cops start profiling 240's and pulling us over for no reason....even though it's happened like 8 times within the last 2 months...bastard cops...=\

:sly: I have a passion for the 240SX. Im a non driver myself but soon ill have my licensce and I hope to get a 98-94 Nissan 240SX Hatchback. I hope to find the Japanese. style tail lights for sale. Imagen a white paint job with black custom decals, window tenting, wide style fenders, and R34 body kit. I want to stick with the 2.4 liter KA24 motor because i feel it has more displacement than the popular 2.0 liter SR20 engine swap. These are my aspirations for the future. Yeah right. In my dreams. :dopey:

Hatch < Coupe. Hatch is basically a glorified roadster. All that glass = bad support. Its also heavier than the coupe. I like the way the hatch looks alot more than the coupe (in fact I think my car is just plain ugly), but I bought the coupe due to more support and the lighter weight.

Also, you feel that the KA has more displacement than the SR? No feeling needed dude. 2.4 is a greater number than 2.0. Powerband on the KA is garbage, turbo'ed or not, its still poop. SR's powerband is so much more streamlined. There is a reason that Nissan didnt put turbo KA's in their Silvias, 180's, bluebirds, pulsars, etc (other than the fact that turbo KA's dont exist in an OEM form).

As far as your project aspirations, dont give up on them. Keep trucking and saving. My buddy back in Phoenix just bought a WRX, but he saved for a year so that his monthly payments wouldnt be too horrible. All that time he saved, he was driving a POS Geo Metro, and everyone made fun of him. Look who has the last laugh now...

I live in Washington State, not far from the coast, and right near a Navy Base, so we see some JDM cars that Navy guys bring over..... I have a friend who is selling his PS13, which is why I mentioned it. I really only care about the shell...... Really, I'm looking for any Silvia/240SX (Hatch or Coupe)......

Nice. Get some pics of it, I'd love to see it with washington plates on it (blur the numbers). I've yet to see a real JDM car (other than at a show or online) on the streets, bearing a states license plate. Most of us in the service that go to Japan usually just sell our cars there before we leave (Yokota AB has quite the lemon lot, which is where I bought and sold my 180SX I drove while I was there), as going through the process of exporting the car isnt worth the trouble.

a r34 kit on a s13 ????? weird

actually Non Fujita did this to his S14, one of the 1st people stateside to go crazy on Nissans, in these pics he hasn't swapped out the KA yet, but then again these pics r from the 90's

I'm not really fond of R34 GTR kits on other cars, but that one doesn't look too bad. At least it's a good quality kit (or at least it looks that way)....

;)

This would probably be my (fairly realistic) dream drift car. My favorite "drift" car is the S15, but I live in the US and that's not possible at the moment.

Mmm Work Meister S1 wheels (or possible SSR Professor SP1's...I can't tell) and Vertex kit..

Still trying to import my car from japland, it's pretty obvious what it is, and yes i do drift, but at the moment i'm just ass-dragging.

The cars an FC3S RX-7.

("All the skylines good for is drifting" hahahaah, if that isn't the funiest thing i've read in a long time...)

Um, yeah go for it, here's why i found it a silly comment though, the GTR is well known throughout japan and aus as one of the best all round high speed track cars, one of the fasted inline 6 drag cars, then the GTS-t and GT-t are also known as great draggers sometimes better than the GTRs depending on tuning and are also great track cars, no the best, because of their weight, but they're good in high speed races. Then the GTRs are not drifters at all, nobody drifts a GTR, simply because it's really difficult with it's large weight and 4WD it's a much better grip driver, the GTS-t and GT-t do make good drifters though and are widely used in japland.
That was my reasoning for my comment, what's yours?

They are fast, I'll give em that much, but they are extremely heavy and the ATESSA AWD system can be a bastard for oversteering. I don't blame Calsonic and ZEXEL for converting them to FR. You also have to understand that it would take alot of time and money to decrease the weight to an acceptable circuit level GT-R. They only seem fast while stock because they accelerate quickly off the line and out of the corners with AWD and increase in power on the straights with their twin turbos.

As for drifting them, I find they handle quite well on the hairpin turns on that section of Monaco I like to call 'The Hill'. In fact, I'm making a video for a girl I know and apparently she really likes the Skyline (in Bayside Blue Metallic), so I'm gonna throw in a segment of the R34 drifting up and down the Hill. No mods. No sims.

So yeah, I'll let you know when it's done.

So you're just talking about the GTRs and in GT3, okay i understand now.

But wouldn't you agree that the GTS-ts and GT-ts are better for drifting than a GTR, or do you like 4WD better cause it's more of a challenge? And Calsonic and Zexel convert GTRs to RWD? I didn't know that. I know Top Secret and alot of Japanese tuning places and alot here in aus do engine transplants to put the RB26DETT into GTS-ts and GT-ts, that works out really well as they are a bit lighter than GTRs and now have their engines, but then they have to get the brakes, suspension etc up to scratch, but hey they've got the money and the resources.

ah, u see that isnt jsut any body kit on the front though, thats a real R34 front end bumper grafted onto the front end of his S14, he was on of the 1st stateside to do this, which then started the trend of having R34 kits for every car

u got a problem with awd drifters?

Uh-oh... look what you've gone and started, Ry.

Of course the GTS is better for drifting than the GT-R.

I'm just saying that due to it's weight, torque and oversteering AWD layout, it is possible to make good looking drifts on tight corners with the R34. And that's just what I plan on doing..

It still doesn't look right, on any other car but the R34 GTR, IMHO....

okay guys, stop talking about GT3. this thread was made for real life drifting/drifting cars, and GT3 does not pertain to real life.

do you ever see anybody in real life drifting an AWD car? i know i havent...sure i've seen people sliding evo's around, but thats just doing donuts or whatever. competitively drifting an AWD car, i have never seen it done.

Are you kidding? There are AWD cars in Drift comps, all the time. Where have you been?.......

A real-life drifting aspiration? How bout the GTO from D1 :sly:

Oh yeah, and next year I hear Mopar is revving up a Viper Drifting team for D1. Wow, I never thought I would get excited about anything Mopar. However, this is the next best thing from having the return of the Superbird and Daytona :trouble:

BTW, that 'SilLine' is sick JDM.
