My question,

In order to get to level 40 Aspec, is it absolutely necessary to 'grind'?

So if you got gold in everything apart from seasonal events, what would be your total xp? And what xp is needed for level 40?

A search came up with nothing relevant.

Edit, just seen the total xp needed for level 40, top of forum :P 7,576,732, (could have made it a round number PD)

Yes. Get ready for multiple 24hr races to get there. And hundreds of shorter ones. Over and over and over.

No, you don't have to grind, but if you don't, you have to do a gazzillion online races, which actually will be a grind. So Yes, you need to grind. Lol.

Yes. I was annoyed at this at first, but then I thought that PD may have made it like this to simulate real driver progression. You don't max out your driving skills after a 24hr Le Mans race or a 24hr Nurburgring in real life, so why should you in the game?

(not my logic, PD's - i think)

If you only play offline, you not only have to grind to reach level 40, you also have to grind to get access to all endurance races.

If so, levelling should be made based on race results in "difficult" races, not just XP points that can be harvested by strapping the DS3 in rubber bands.

In real life you also have more races to compete in though.

No.. i dont "grind". i play and tune the cars i buy. if you know GT you know the next wont come for a long time.... why rush? why do you have to beat it so fast?

If you don't enjoy racing friends, or find that a lot of the events aren't worth doing to begin with, an your main goal is to achieve 100% for the sake of completion and not making yourself better at the game, then yes, you will have to grind.

I'm basically at level 31 and have not once got "stuck in the mud." Granted, 40 is a long way from 31, but I still have plenty to do (all endurance races, X1 challenge) and plenty more I want to do before those.

I'm sorry to say dude, but 7,576,732 is the amount of xp needed for leveling from 39 to 40. the total xp you need is 34,6m

Level 31, eh? Sorry to break it to you, but in terms of XP you're about halfway when you reach 35. Your grinding days will come soon.

That is, if I feel the need. I don't get the satisfaction from 100% completion. What could I possibly stand to gain from it other than a cool video to watch once and maybe a rare car? Why is it such a big deal to everyone? Is the point to enjoy your cars or get 100%? It's Gran Turismo, it's not an RPG or FPS with a resolution at the end. You drive cars. When you get to the end, you drive cars.

Thanks guys/girls, looks like it's fun times for me ahead :D

I'm level 30, half way through it and thought that there is no way you have to grind if you golded everything excluding seasonals, guess i was wrong...

I might have to add up all xp for golding everything and see what it comes too.

So true. It takes more XP to go from level 37-40 than it takes to go from level 0-37. Get your rubber band and keyboard ready.

I drove Tsukuba 9 hrs endo last monday. I did it in 10 hrs, with two 30 minutes break. Did not felt like grinding, it felt like I´m getting too old for this ****...

Or, just have fun with the game. 💡 I play online and we do 50 to 75 lap races, I am at lvl 39 and having fun. If I wanted to get to 40 quicker, I'd just "grind" the boring 4hr Nurb race two times.

I've had that same feeling, only I've had it after the 4h Nurburgrace.

Here're some numbers. Using the handy GT5 Matrix 4.1 spreadsheet found on GTPlanet.

A-Spec mode, after completing the following :
- Gold every A-Spec race event including EXTREME races.
- Gold all licenses, including S-License.
- Excluding special events.
- Excluding Endurance races.

You get roughly 1,086,576 XP (level 32). To reach level 40, you need another 29,774,616 XP.
Edit, after relooking at the spreadsheet, revised to :
You get roughly 1,086,576 XP (level 25). To reach level 40, you need another 33,541,741 XP. For the life of me I can't read a spreadsheet properly

30 million XP is about :
- 9 times Tsukuba 9-hours
- 15 times Nurburgring 4-hours
- 40 times Indy 500.
- 153 times Dream Car Championship.

Now you be the judge on whether 'grinding' is necessary in this game or not :)

Haha. I did the 4 hour Nurburgring enduro this past Saturday. I was non-sporting; took the X1 out. =p

Got myself into a 5 lap lead, then e-brake parked it off to the side, and did chores around the house for a half hour before coming back. Saw I still had a two lap lead, so I parked again right before the finish line. Four hour mark hit, so I casually rolled across the finish. ;D

If you are lv32 only do 4h Ring endurance. You need to do that max 20 times to get to lv40 ;)

1 4h Ring gives you 2.08 million Xp.

Im 2 million xp from reaching level 40, thats 1 4hr race for me and not a rubberband in sight and no SS7 or nurburgring glitch races either. Done a lot of grinding, didnt mind it to much as it bought me a lot of cars.

Well, my rubberbands are fully tensioned as we speak. It sad I've to use it, but hey, it's only a game, I am a trophy prostitute, and grinding the Endurance races will get me banned, from my home. And this being the first day of Aspec auto grind, it's kinda funny to watch 👍

Gimme my midrace saves!!

You have to do multiple 24 hr races to get from 35-40 or even 39-40. That is in effect grinding but it also depends on how you view the races. If you use a different car each time or a different tune, then you are not grinding you are racing imo. I view it as grinding because re-running races over and over and over again is quite boring but is absolutely necessary in this game in order to get credits to do anything and to level up. A better level up system could have been in order but as of now it doesn't matter to me really. I play online now and I could care less what my levels are from here on out. Other than running the dream car championship a few times a week for credits, I race online.
