I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy GT5 this week and I'm a big NASCAR fan and I just wondered a couple of things.

1. Do you have to unlock NASCAR or can you play straight away.

2. Can you customise your cars, choose colours and the number on the car, it's not a deal breaker but I'd love to be able to recreate the Days of Thunder car.

Cheers for any information.

Yes, no and no. You can race NASCAR online and such, but you have to pick predetermined cars. If you level up in single player than you can buy a such predetermined car. Once you buy a car, you can adjust it to your liking, which is nice for online.

1. You have to level up to get to Nascar in A spec. It is a very small part of the game. You will be disappointed if it is the only reason you are going to buy the game.

2. You have a choice of a dozen or so cars. They have predetermined numbers and sponsors.

Oh yeah I forgot, you can't paint them. You can change the oil, rebuild the motor when the hp starts to drop

No, no, no, no, no. You've got this all wrong.

NASCAR fans need to understand that this is not a NASCAR game, and NASCAR does not play any major part in it. It accounts for like 1% of the game. This is a Gran Turismo game with a hint of NASCAR tacked onto it.

  • There are 12 drivers/cars, and not 43.
  • There are never 43 cars on track, ever. There's never even half that many.
  • There are only two NASCAR tracks in the game - Daytona and Indianapolis.
  • There are almost no NASCAR events in the game.

Do not buy this as a NASCAR game. If you would be perfectly happy with GT5 if it had no hint of NASCAR at all, then by all means get the game, but if you're wanting a NASCAR fix then this isn't it.

the suspension adjustment only allows both front and both rear, you cant adjust the corners individually, besides, there are no short ovals to make advantage of stacking the springs
