Yes I do that, I cant take it to see a Ferrari with Mercedes colors or so... It doesnt feel right. Unless I use matte paints on it.

I keep to the manufacturers paint, never really thought anything of it till now.

I put WR Blue Mica on my Evo just for a laugh.

Did you put gold rims on too?

Most of the time I'll paint my cars, especially if there are only a few manufacturer colours to choose from. Usually I'll go for a colour which is bright but not over the top, If I want a good colour I'll buy an LFA for a paint chip.

I've got a Mercedes silver on my Jaguar XJ-13, probably my best looking car to.

I try to stick to same make but if I can't find a chip I like I'll go to same auto group.
I have a 300SL painted in the Mercedes SLR Galaxit Black. Looks awesome with the black and red interior. :-)

I don't worry about paint manufacturer at all. I have different paint setups for different car setups.

Stock or slightly modified - stock body color with black or gray wheels.
Highly modified - body color and wheel color the same.
Drift modified - chrome or matte body and colored wheels (as shocking as can be to easily identify in the garage).

There goes the resell value... lol.

I don't pay any attention to the factory paint colors. First I decide if I like or dislike the color on a car. If dislike, I paint it whichever color I like best for that car, which is why a preview (which seems obvious) would be so wonderful, but I digress...
