Who all here overclocks their hardware?

I overclock some of my stuff, mainly my video card. I don't have the testicular fortitude to mess with my CPU/RAM speeds, nor the money to replace the said part if it erupts into flames (or a similar death).

I first started out with RivaTuner on my Radeon 9550SE. Low level overclocking was still scary to me, but I overclocked it by about 25 MHz on the Core and Memory Clocks.

I then moved onto ATi Tray Tools with my 9550 SE, and overclocked it a bit higher, but sometimes it artifacted like a mother, so it wasn't really too beneficial.

Then I bought my NVidia 256MB AGP 8x Dual-DVI 6800XT (rumored to actually be a GS GPU) video card . That's when I moved on to nTune 5.0. It has many more features than ATi Tray Tools, but is much more costly to your system if you mess up.

I went from:

Core: 350 MHz
Memory Clock: 1000 MHz

to

Core: 400 MHz
Memory Clock: 1142 MHz

(With stock cooling, btw)

It got me a 2 FPS, 2,000 point increase in AquaMark3 trial version with Standard Measurement Benchmark Mode on from the factory clocks.

nTune also lets you modify Memory Timings, AGP Bus Speeds, CPU Bus Speeds, PCI-E speeds, fan speeds, etc. all from the nTune program. It also has temperature monitors and fan monitors, as well as a system diagnostic for testing stability. Very useful tool.

Anyways, who else here overclocks their hardware?

yup.
cpu stock is 2ghz(sempron 3000+) i have it at 2.23
videocard core stock is 490 . i have it at 540
memory stock= 500 . i have it running at 545...

i have to oc my memory a bit as well in order to oc my cpu

I always use a formula for OC'ing my video card,

Say I have a 50 MHz core, and i OC to 100 MHz, thats 2x

So then I have 70 MHz memory clock, so I put it at 140. I always keep things even like that. Usually runs smoother

I would do, and have done, but that just killed my Dell Inspiron 8600 even more... IT's already underclocked at 350mhz because it's a laptop, and overclocked it to 400mhz like the normal one.

This desktop's GPU is overclocked too, even though it doesn't make much of a performance difference with an FX5200 - 250mhz to 310mhz estimate mazimum.

I don't overclock my PC because I do not want to risk voiding the warranty, and destroying the hardware in the process. ;)

I may do in the future when I make my own computers. :)

I have done in the past for experimentation but I don't any more, I've no reason to.

OC'd the FSB on my 2700+ from 166 to 180 I think it was, up from 2166MHz to 2340MHz.

Also OC'd my video card a bit, from 400/600 to 430/660.

I don't remember what improvement I got in synthetic benchmarks though, it was a while ago.

I overclock my processor and I used to overclock my Graphics Cards but Coolbits seems to interfere with SLI (besides two 7800GTXs running in unison should be enough graphics power for anyone).

Given the fact that I've got a massive heatsink and fan setup on my cpu, I would love to overclock it. However, I haven't been able to find a stable bus speed that would allow me to do so. I can't figure out how to overclock safely my gpu through ATI's control center though. I guess my AIW 800XT doesn't support overdrive (I absolutely loved my 9600XT because of overdrive) or I simply don't know how to overclock it safely.

I'm running an Athlon XP 3000+ Barton core at 167 FSB currently.

Yep, my Athlon 2500+ was starting to show it's age, so I began overclocking it a couple of weeks ago. Haven't had much time to tinker this past week, so it's stayed at 2075MHz, up from 1837. I am quite limited however because my cheapo memory will not take an overclock, so I have to increase the multiplier every time the FSB hits 166.

I overclock everything that I can get my hands on, the only exception being Laptops.

The two desktops I use fairly often:
P4 2.8GHz @ 3.46Ghz (Stock cooling)
Athlon 1600+ (1.4GHz) @ 3200+ (2.2Ghz) ($10 cooling)

I cannot remember the specifics on the RAM speeds and whats not. I believe I have a 5:4 ratio on the FSB / Bus on the Athlon system, and I believe the RAM on the P4 is running around 1000Mhz 1:1 ratio.

Used to overclock my video cards, but I don't much anymore - Not worth it I don't think.

Wow, you guys have some slow FSB speeds factory. Mine came 200 on the FSB stock.

I won't go into overclocking my PC until I get my 64 bit / PCI-e setup. Then I'll put some better coolingi n this PC and overclock it to it's max limits, and sell everything as-clocked.

Only ever upped the voltage on my ram to increase the FSB, but other than that, no. I do know allot of people who overclock to the point of burning out CPUs and graphics cards, but I dont have the cash to do it.

i have a 9800 All in wonder and im planning to overclock it but im kind of holding back on it till i get a new case. the case im currently using is an extremely old model but the internals are new (asus p4 motherboard, p4 ht, 1.7 gb of ram, dual harddrives). the case was originally purchased when i first built this PC prior to upgrades, this was when i was using a geforce 3 mx and the case temperature was fine. after some upgrades i can feel a considerable amount of heat radiating from the sides of the case, i can also feel the heat on the case, im just worried that overclocking will produce more heat and cause internal problems. i have considered opening a sidepanel to the case butim worried about dust. i heard a 9800 all-in-wonder can be overclocked to match the performance of an XT, is it possible?

Summer sucks for overclocking. I have to tone everything down, or go back to stock settings.
My 6600gt is clocked up 50mhz in core, I don't remember the memory clock (i'm on my laptop currently).
Northwood p4 3.0ghz is clocked to 3.5 at 1.65 volts.
Ram is 1:1 ratio, 234mhz; 3-3-3-6 timings at 2.8 volts.
For awhile I was big into overclocking and buying cooling hardware; but I don't really bother anymore. I found a comfortable setup and haven't touched it since. I don't bother with my laptop.

Yes it is, but that really depends on the specific card. You could probably do it, since it's not that big of an overclock.

Woohoo, just got my card OC'd higher.

From 350/1000 MHz to:

With a temperature of:

With stock cooling. And that's AFTER playing Far cry (All Very High Settings @ 1280x1024 full AA) for about 30 minutes, and TOCA Race Driver 3 (full graphics, 1024x768 I assume) for about an hour.

Hehe, I'm beginning to overclock my MX440.

(Yes I know, ia wet cardboard box has more graphical processing power, but it's getting replaced soon, so I may as-well tinker with it. :))

Have fun with your 150/200 clocks .

No real details, but yeah....I over clock everything for scores but for normal use I clock it back to stock average everyday use.

Whell,i actually burned 2 processors due to overclocking,now i'm overclocking,but in a small amount,P4 2800 @ 3000 mhz,and my graphic card is slightly overclocked!

Well, after looking around on the internet for overclocking information for my cpu and graphics card, I've successfully found a utility to overclock my AIW X800XT.

Stock GPU/Memory Speeds: 500 Mhz/500 Mhz
Overclocked GPU/Memory Speeds: 528.75 Mhz/549 Mhz

I've noticed at least a 10% increase in overall framerates in TES: Oblivion when running my GPU overclocked. For normal everyday use, I'll probably run the card at stock speeds to prolong life.

I may overclock my Athlon XP 3000+ (2,173 Mhz stock) from 166 FSB to (2,209 Mhz OC) 170 FSB or higher. It seems stable at 170 FSB but the diode temp seems high to me at that FSB. It was running nearly 140 F on the diode average at 170 FSB.

Increasing your clock speeds on your video card by 28.5 and 49 MHz won't really hurt your video cards life (and if it does, you have some crappy cooling).

Besides, generally, overclocking is only usually set to be active in 3D mode (games, benchmarks, etc.), whereas it runs at normal clocks in 2D mode (web browsing, desktop, etc.).

In nTune I can't modify my FSB or my computer locks up. It's not going higher than 200 FSB :(.

no settings I can find in BIOS either. Crappy oldschool components. Can't wait for my nForce 500 :D

I run just a simple 'clock on my graphics card. Makes no noticeable difference to the card's temp but adds a few frames in certain games. Better than nothing.

Tried to overclock my CPU and RAM before but both have failed. The CPU refused to go much above it's 2.4Ghz standard clock stably (i was never really sure i had the best idea of how to do it) and i pushed the RAM too hard and it stopped my PC from booting. So i've given up now with those two. Still it's not like i need to overclock :P
