Do you see driving lines on the road? (Tetris effect)

Where I live currently is way out in the sticks, so I know that after about 11 or midnight the roads really are just mine, so I do take what I've learned at driving school and whatnot and use the whole road like a track, but I can honestly say that if I didn't know the area and driving habits of everyone else so well I would stick to general safe driving protocol.

When I go to the supermarket I use racing smooth lines when I turn corners (At speed)with the shopping trolley - I also move ballast about (12 cans of Dog food - Yum Curry for dinner) to get rid of that pensioner ramming understeer that seems to plague my local shopping emporium and has left me with a 4 race ban after a high speed trip into the kitty litter.

I guess you guys don't do this...

I drive completely different on the road than I do in the game. After learning to dodge the dirty drivers online I started to worry about actual drivers on the road, and I've started to drive defensively at times.

I make a lot of custom tracks, and it has made me look a bit closer at the winding back roads.

I dont use the driving line, so I dont visualize a line but i see the where it would be. I never leave my lane or even follow the line, I'm just aware of it.

I try to save my wild side for the virtual world.

Some very alarming posts in this thread. Me thinks some of you haven't been driving long enough to know what is OK and what is not on the street.

My driving style is sort of aggressive, high speed, almost precarious. I do stick to lines if I can, but I'm not fussed. This style actually works for me in races, so I'm happy with it.

I should add that I'm completely different in real life. Yes I drive at a speed that some deem to be quick, but I am still careful and precise (and hate it when others aren't), and being defensive is a sort of last resort.

i found myself left foot braking in my automatic daily driver the other day....

Nothing wrong with that, despite what the "experts" say. It has its uses, and can be quite effective, so long as you can balance the grip.

Seeing lines became second nature in the 4th grade, when I really started paying attention to racing. Now, it's instinct. I can do it playing pool as well, which is handy.

Oh c'mon, everybody knows you are supposed to use your heel for the brake peddle :sly:

Tsuchiya uses his heel for the throttle. Not wrong, just different.

One day, we humans may evolve to grow an extra leg, thus having the ability to operate all three pedals with ease. :sly:

And perhaps an extra arm, so that we can keep two hands on the wheel while eating our sandwiches.

For "heel and toeing" I use the heel for the throttle too; like many others I think.

Yeh the exception was charlie chaplin :dopey:

on the left foot braking, haha try that while driving slow in a car park (make sure you have seat belt on!)
