Do You Think GT5 Was Rushed?

If it was rushed towards the end, it makes me wonder what they spent all the rest of the time doing. Buggering about with "mimesis", no doubt. I say it's about time PD handed the project over to someone new.

Changing gear ratios manually? The drop down menu's were there but not active. Car Sharing was half there (people could look at your cars but not borrow them). B Spec online was added but it should have been in from the start (it was in pre-release images). OCD and Seasonal events are another example of something that was added. The Siena kart track and almost half of the course maker locations are missing as well as an RM Mini. Everything that is printed on the case (standard GT5 game case) however was present from release

What's taking so long with the product, then?

"From our perspective, it doesn't seem like that long a time. To make Gran Turismo 5, we threw away the legacy code from GT4 and started from scratch. It's been five years from [the release of] GT4, and that's the same amount of time it took to develop the first GT4. To create a game from scratch, that's the amount of time it takes to get it right."


Will there be a Gran Turismo 6?

"Yes. You won't have to wait as long as you did for GT5. GT5 represents a whole new operating system. GT6 is just new apps that run on the GT5 system."

They were forced to release it, but they knew they could add those through updates.
 
Yes, it was released unfinished. Rushed, no, Kaz and his lazy ass team had six years and presented about two years worth of solid work; any other game developer CEO would have been fired on the spot.
 
Rushed or not I don't care. The game looks good either way.
Personally, with all the detail of the Premium cars, the realistic courses with weather and clock time, and the AMAZING rally physics, I would say this game is ASTOUNDING! Only things I want updated in the future are premium Le Mans cars, premium rally cars, in race saves so I can do those pesky 24 hour endurances in A Spec, and those 25 tracks that were not in GT5 to begin with. Once all of that is in I will be permanently addicted to this game. At least until that new "project" (hoping it is Tourist Trophy 2!) comes out in 2012.
