Please keep this on topic.

We know there are purists who use a morality clause.
We know there are others who use an entitlement clause.

The question is - Do you think Polyphony Digital has a right to include rare items in their game.
Do they have a right to take countermeasures to ensure that rarity?

They do have every right to include rare items and have every right to try and keep them rare.

I'd failed to see the point, could be me, maybe not.

So I voted Facepalm!

I think they do.

I would have prefered it if they would have made more cars elite, so that you weren't able to buy them in the new car dealership you could only win them. And make any car won un-tradeable.

I'm sure I remember older GT's when they had cars in the dealership that you couldn't buy, but only win. That may have kept some of the credability around the trading market and GT5 as a whole?

PD have the right to make their product any way they want. Purists and entitlists (customers who as we know are always right) have the right to take the game any way they want. Voters have the right to vote any way they want. Chalk up another facepalm.

Can I vote "facepalm" because their is a correct answer and it's insanely obvious?

It's their game.

Change your question to "should they" instead of "can they" and you'll have discussion. Frankly anyone who says they don't have the right is factually incorrect.

What's rare?
Matte paints and chromes are the same rarity...
All standard cars are the same rarity...

I used to program for an online game, and our programming group had a weapon that was the most powerful in the game. It was the Predator's shoulder-mounted laser cannon, and it never respawned as long as one copy of the weapon already existed in the game. Things would get too unbalanced when more than one person used the weapon (it was kind of unbalanced when one person had it, so a second would really mess up the game).

It was our right (and actually our responsibility) to keep the game balanced, so keeping this item rare was a necessity. Game balance is up to the programmers, and they have to be able to choose how many of an item exist in a game.

That said, PD certainly has the right to limit any item in the game. Whether it's necessary to do so is a matter of opinion, and from what I've seen, there is nothing that unbalances the game (GT5), ruining the game for other players. The X2010 might unbalance it for an individual, but they can choose whether to exploit the imbalance or not.

So, do they have the right? Absolutely.
Does it matter in GT5? Not really.

I see what the TC is saying. Many people will saying duping an cheating is fine because it doesn't effect other people. This is 100% false because if I have a really rare car that everyone wants, I feel like I have a good collection coming along. But once someone else gets it an dupes it, trades it, repeat. The car starts to become more common thus decrease its value as a rarity.

So hes asking if PD has the right to keep rare...rare. Lol

i wish they never gave B-Day gifts & had a Back up online not to USB... i would perfered if cars kept their rarity... i hate that everyone has a Prototype X2010 but they havnt even Bronzed to Vettle challenged or got the PSN trophy for it.... for me it ruined GT5 i hope GT6 has a better rarity system... i earned my cars but its BS when people who are lv 5 have all the 20 mil cars and 20 X2010s

Except it's a factual, yes or no question. If someone says "no" then they are in fact, incorrect. They obviously have the right to do whatever they want to their game. They could have released it with 1 track and 1 car.

Should they make things rare is a totally different question.

I don't think "right" is the right correct word.

The have the ability and inclination to, so yes.

It's their IP, they can (within reason) do anything they want to it, if they are willing to live with the consequences that is.

this topic contains zero logic. Hence more "facepalms" than legitimate answers.

How are the mod's allowing this to stay? My guess is people have run out of (long time ago) anything useful to actually discuss about this busted game haha

Why did you make this thread?

This isn't the first or last game to have rare items in it.

Do they have a right to? Yes, it's their game.

Do I think it's right for them to make DLC that is completely unobtainable in some regions? No. Still looking for that XJ-13 Chomeline, Stealth 787B and Stealth R10 on NTSC here in North America.

Chrome chips are rare. PD has kept them rare. Therefore, PD has included rare items in the game. I'm probably missing something here.

Double facepalm busted game rant fail! (Whaaaa...?)

This thread is useless without pictures! (LOL!)

Of course I vote facepalm -- the answer is obvious.
