Yeah, it kills your desire to race pretty quickly when the game makes it impossible to even set up a proper race. 3 laps? No damage? Random track? Car classes spaced wider apart than stars on opposite ends of the galaxy that making running all but a handful of cars in stock form pointless?
In all fairness, GT5P's matchmaking system was somewhat decent. But I think the only reason I didn't hate it was because the game was a demo. It would be a giant step backwards at this point.
Here's my problem with online.... finding a race with the car that YOU want to race, on the track that YOU want to drive is like finding a needle in a haystack. And, in all fairness, most of the 'clean' racers tend to have a VERY narrow choice of cars and tracks they want to race. I like the idea of using EVERYTHING the game has to offer. So a random element has to be introduced.
I don't think you have played many other racing games, if you think that most people prefer to stay racing at low and medium levels..! You only have to read THIS forum, to hear the kids whine about the fact that they can't jump into an FGT on the day the buy the game, and go online straight away!

My schedule means I cannot go online at the same time of day on the same day each week, so finding a mechanism for getting good even racing from strangers is needed. Shuffle Racing seems to fit the bill. I just don't see what the objection is to my idea. Under it, everyone that likes it exactly the way it is can still do that. All I have talked about is additional levels.

Yes, but you cut some people off from those levels. I've heard other people ask for higher levels. I'm not them, but I'm sure that they wouldn't want to have to unlock those levels just to play them.Under it, everyone that likes it exactly the way it is can still do that. THANK YOU, I totally agree!!! As soon as you get used to the way a room plays you get stuck with another room of people you don't know. There is no accountability. Bad drivers don't get booted and therefore there is no reason to try and protect your good reputation. NO matchmaking would ruin the online part of the game. I love it the way it is. Leave it alone. If there is any changes make it to where you can change your oil in the settings so you don't have to leave the room and it would be great the way it is IMO.
As long as it was something added rather than taking the place of what is already here I wouldn't think it was too bad. I also don't see how it would help anything though. I mean if you want a certain type of race at a certain track just put that track in the filter and see what kind of races are being raced at that track. If there aren't enough then start a room of your own and if there are enough people who want to race that then they will come. If not then there isn't enough interest in that type of racing. If you had the matchmaking the same thing would happen. If there wasn't enough people wanting to race that kind of race no one would show up there either. The only difference is that with the way it is WE have control over what happens rather than with matchmaking it is much more random and is always changing.
I like it the way it is and don't see how matchmaking could help, I do see how it could ruin what is now a great system.
I prefer the lounge system we have now. I may take a little extra effort to get the room up and going but the end result is more fun. Now if someone doesn't have any friends to play with then I can understand the desire for a matching system...but IMO just get some friends![]()
One of the best races I had online was when I got to actually race my Mk1 Golf GTI online. I think it was on London. Unfortunately as much as I enjoy driving that little car, I've only ever seen one room to drive it in without creating my own lobby. Even if we had a matchmaking system that matched PP points of cars, it would probably be a long queue time to get matched with similar low-power cars and the races would be small. At least when you make a lobby for these cars, it's advertised and people might switch cars to join.Though, I've noticed that I'm not the only one who is disappointed by the fact that I can't race low powered race cars.
It was incredibly slow, had no options whatsoever and was unreliable, especially during off-peak hours. Why?

Guys, we're lobbying for both. Those of you who like the current system, would get to keep it. I don't want the current system replaced, just to know before hand that there is a 600pp race at Suzuka.
