Do You Use SFR?

Dual Shock 3 user here....never used it, with the exception of turning it on when I send the X1 off on a rubber-band assisted grinding run by itself :D

ABS and TCS are real-world driver aids. SRF is the very definition of training wheels, and is basically cheating yourself from becoming a better driver.

I was using it since day one because I was too scared to turn it off for some reason. Thanks to this thread I have switched it off. I am yet to notice any real difference in the cars handling though. Perhaps my technique was already good enough!
Anyway, thanks for getting me to switch off the final assist!

Probably, especially since you're not noticing a difference! Good job! The place it's most notable is with the FTG at Fuji, especially on the last turn. Seems to "pull" you back from sliding out.

Used it for 2 things... to gold the Vettel challenges and to complete the FGT Championship.

Probably needed it for the X1, didn't bother to even try the FGT without it as I just wanted to get that A spec series out of the way and move on to proper cars.

Other than ABS, the only other aid I use form time to time is 'active steering' on time trail events (unless prohibited) as it seems to give a bit of an advantage.

No. I used it in the beginning, but it ruins the fun of driving and the feel for different cars too much.
GT5 is so much more fun without the SRF!

Depends on car. Some cars are just way to aggressive on the tail. I dont like spinning out all the time then.
When i use a wheel however, No srf.

SRF: Off in a-Spec is a good way to improve your skillz for the online battles. Turn it off as fast as you can.

But nothing is more fun as the noobs in the super cars online, spinning around like balerina's & thinking wtf is going on with my car.

👍

That's funny S*** right there...

Ho! by the way, NO SFR

Yes, because it gives me advantage like all people squeezing every bit of advantage what this game has to offer. of course, i myself dislike this kind of aids. But i have no choice, also back when i was racing using adventurismo 4 in arcade mode. I used to increase my +weight and -decrease my hp & acceleration and using the hard tires to challenge myself against AI.

You have no choice? Do you mean online or offline? Online, it can be forced off for all drivers. So you don't need to use it to compete.

I had to use it for FGT, or if I'm desperate for a gold medal. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

I didn't use it even in beginning, but sometimes you have to use it in the Licenses/Specials, and so sometimes I forget it on...

i use it sometimes

i hate it in online races you see some players like one of my friends race with zo6 when the race start you see car flys with no burnout nothing like 4wd car
i knew they used skid recovery
for me its for begginers ... but using it everywhere and everytime its a bit cheating

I used it to gold the Vettel Challenge, since there was no point pretending I would get a realistic experience driving the X1 with aids off. Other than that, nope.

I've never used SFR, so I don't exactly know how it affects your driving, so it's not too much of a loss for me. :D

I've only used it a couple times with the Mazda Furai. I don't need to use it any longer.

When I played GT4 i never checked this or any other forums and never messed with the driving aids, and did the same at first with GT5, but then reading these forums I noticed that for some cars/challenges you are really best off without them, and now I switch them all off 95% of the time with the exception of ABS which I leave at 1.

The game is definitely a lot more fun now, you really do get used to it pretty quickly (the brakes will be the next step i guess but hard not to lock up with a DS3) and there are some cars that are real dogs to drive without aids, but they are challenging and usually not "essential" to complete the game anyway.

I keep an open mind with driving aids though, personally I VERY rarely use SRF or ASM but a little traction control with some modern/race cars isn't exactly unrealistic.

Hell no I don't use SRF. It should be removed from the game as well as active steering (this one is just silly not overpowered) ASAP.

I don't use any aids online myself, ABS excepted. Can anybody explain how SRF works? Maybe PD should do away with SRF and replace it with Electronic stability control (ESC), which is something most modern road cars actually use.

I do use it when I want a worry-free win on A-Spec and Seasonals, but I turn it off before drifting or just cruising off-/online.
