Oh yeah, the 4100 lb curb weight of the Challenger has done so much to destroy its performance potential, its really quite sad. The standard 300 BHP GT won't have much of a problem with the Challenger, like you said, due to the weight. Similarly, the Camaro with any wide assortment of engine options will likely be just as successful as the Mustang.

One wonders if the 300 BHP V6 would managed to tear down the SRT-8 as well?

Do we actually know how heavy the Camaro will be? Last I checked, we had no official word, and the Camaro also sits on a shortened version of a hilariously heavy full size car platform.

The G8 sits pretty much right on 4000 lbs, a little more than 100 shy of where the Challenger starts. Assuming that the shortened frame and other parts do make up for some lost weight, I'd peg it right around 3800 or so. Just a rough estimate at best.

Given that the G8 can already pretty much run with the SRT-8, I'd be willing to bet that the "base" Z/28 would easily outdo the Challenger R/T.
