There's going to be a new Viper, this is scary news, when I heard about the SRT-10 I was scared of it being a bit s:censored:t, but it was awesome, but still.

Dear Mopar (note: I know Dodge can't see this)

Please Mopar, make a good Viper, we want 550 horsepower+, a car that doesn't want to KILL YOU, much, and most of all, the striking looks that the Viper has had for the past 20 years

From, The sort of people who know a good car when they see it

Well, Dodge is working with Ferrari for the new Viper and the V10 this time. Note that the Viper's V10 has never been designed by an American company. It started with Lamborghini, which knew a thing or two about V10s. The SRT10 got help from McLaren and now, Ferrari will help out with next one. However, the big deal about the ending of the current generation is that all over Vipers haven't had any aids. No TCS, ASM, ABS....no nothing. They were a pure bred race car. But, the next Viper will have all those as the the government is going to require all those features on all cars, period.

So, while it'll once again have an Italian bred V10, it won't have the bite that the previous Vipers have. But, with help from Ferrari, I don't think the new Viper will disappoint.

Ok, you need to clear up a few things.

1. Lamborghini did not make the engine. The Viper was always known for having a "truck engine" because that was Lamborghini's job; cast some prototype engine blocks based on the V10 found in their pickups. On that note, Lamborghini did not know a thing or 2 about V10s; they wouldn't attempt one til' 1995 with the Cala.

2. McLaren had no involvement at all with the SRT10 besides acting as an adviser to the SRT team's questions, just like Ricardo Inc.

3. Ferrari is not working with Dodge. Just like with McLaren, Roger Gilles of Dodge reported that, "Ferrari is Ferrari, Viper is Viper. We just want advice".

Kind of a pointless post for a month-long gravedig, isn't it?
In your opinion maybe.

Besides that, i don't think i even noticed the date of the last post, and it was only a month so why does it matter?

The Viper V10 was part of Chrysler's LA engine family. It was a 360 (5.9L) V8 with 2 extra cylinders. Lambo just casted the early blocks in aluminum.

It wasn't Italian.

Roush Viper

No Viper has ever done that though. It's more of a track car that most everything else that isn't an Ariel Atom or Mosler.

What I really want from the next Viper are transmission and aerodynamic improvements.

I was joking about the WANTS TO KILL YOU part, I just forgot to put up a smiley, but still, I hope for the best with the new Viper

In addition - ABS has now been a part of the Viper's equipment list for the majority of it's life. It was either 1999 or 2000 that it was added (whichever year added the 18" wheels, I can't remember).

(NINJA-EDIT) Ah, 2001. So, just half of the Viper's life. Thought ABS came with the wheel upgrade in '99, I was wrong.

So what do we know about the Italian Viper then ?
Wonder if Pinifarina will have anything to do with the design if they decide to remodel it :nervous:

There isn't one, and there won't be one. Read my previous post; they just want advice from Ferrari.

Sorry Mate but just to clear things up Is there going to be a Viper (new one):nervous:

Thank heaven it's being redesigned. It has been a god awful mess since they redesigned it in '03, or whatever year after they got rid of the GTS Coupe. The GTS Coupe was the best looking Viper.

The SRT10 coupe looked good too. It was just the roadster SRT10 that looked bad while the top was up.

I respectfully disagree, in my opinion Dodge made a huge mistake when they redesigned it, they turned a good looking sports car into a tank with rounded edges. They should scrap the Viper and have Lancia create a new supercar over here. Hey, the De Tomaso was a sweet car, some Pinifaria styled supercar would look better than the current Viper. Or for the final solution, scrap the Viper, and stuff all remaining V10 engines into the Fiat 500's that are coming to North America.

I liked all years of the Viper, although the 3rd gen ('03-'06) was my least favorite.

Hope Dodge doesn't let the Italians turn it into a poor man's Ferrari.

As for the engine, keep it V10, add 2 more cylinders to the new 392 (6.4L) HEMI. :dopey:

As it stands, yes, it's in the works to come back.
Phew Thanks for the info I adore this car but with limited knowledge :D

Some including me say the Tank styled Muscle aggressive look is the Viper. And Although American cars like the ZR-1 are becoming more and more European sort of speak Alot of Viper Fans wouldn't like a Lamborghini Viper (Expression).

Just my 2 cents anyway
