Some examples that have happened to me and probably you;

You start a kart lobby and some guy says,"do you think you can remove karts so we can drift Zondas and stuff." You then have to explain to them that this a kart lobby and not a drift lobby.

You set up a free run or practice lobby and then some guy pesters you to start the race. You explain to him that this is a free run so no races are involved.

You start a lobby called invite only and a person who you have not invited joins the lobby so you kick him out. He then sends you offensive messages for the next 10 mins before you explain to him that it's invite only and he wasn't invited.

You set up a Nordschleife only lobby and someone asks you to change circuit because he claims it's too long and boring. You explain to him that this nordschleife only lobby and that it won't be changed. He then pesters you tp change before being kicked.

Has anyone else found stupidity like this online? I hope I'm not the only one.

People are stupid.

That's about there is to say.

And you're surprised by this?

Welcome to the internet.

I was once starting a lobby explicitly only for super fast racing cars. An idiot refused to leave with his street legal standard setting GTR, while we were all racing with 800+ HP LMP race car monsters. At the end he was starting to whine why we were all using those monsters...

Can we talk about what we love about lobbies in this thread?

Unfortunately there are vast herds of ignorami roaming the digital plains online, just kick 'em out without entering into any pointless conversations is my advice.

👍

Block them.

I do not understand the concept of "practice lobby". Pff, there is a Practice Mode in GT Life for that.

Free Run - whats the point?

I'm tired of the fact it takes 20 minutes to find a normal race.

I got kicked by a bunch of brits because I am Russian.

Could you please change the topic name so we can discuss the lack of standard cars now?

:p

Cars behave differently offline vs online. Some people tune their cars online only. Although they could do it in their own personal lobby..

Practice lobby was for a kart series that I run so we could all meet up and try to improve our lap times. Also for testing how long it takes to run out of fuel.

Free run-why not, it's like a track day but you can teach others or vice versa.

Also, it's the fact that people join your lobby and just expect you to change everything for them.
I also hate it when people join my lobby and just start advertising a lobby they will start in a few minutes because I refused to do a drag race.
I also hate those british only, czech only lobbies but I go into them and say my dad's side are from.....

But I don't understand why a polish only lobby is written in english for example.

- "I need ASM, Skid Recovery and TCS can you turn them on" --- theres a reason why they are off

- "Can you bump the HP up by 50, I want to use my Tom's Supra" --- in a street car room

- "Can you drop that weight requirement a bit I can't run my Elise RM" --- in a street car room

I could go on for hours

i find similar stupidity at work, the gym, the store, the real track and any where people gather every day.

There are some serious idiots online. It really gets on my nerves when people don't want to follow the rules.

I haven't tried online yet (yikes) but the Free Run thing seems a nice idea for the Nordschleife, I like the idea of open days where there are people motoring around in various cars, driving at their own pace. If you're talking short tracks though, yeah not so sure

Sucks about the "British Only" lobbies when most folks can speak English, though it might be because of time zones and network latency/lag, i've seen other threads to that effect.

Contrary to popular belief us Brits are, on the whole, not as xenophobic as popular culture likes to make us out to be, not by a long way. We're pretty cosmopolitan and ethnically diverse. And most of us are pretty tolerant, I guess the old Brit politeness stereotype evolved a little :)

It wasnt British only, there were players from the rest of Europe.

I wasnt kicked from German Only though lol, beaten them all too :D

I hate people who ram others. The stupid questions shall be ignored.

Indeed, that's why me and my friends kick people outside of Scandinavia or Germany/UK. The lag just spoils the fun.

That happens on FPS games as well.

I've seen plenty of servers on FPS games which do this. Kick everyone who is Russian. It is unfair though, as it happens mainly because of the stereotype that Russians cheat. Not my opinion though.

Maybe you were playing in an EU only server?

VRracingfan, you are not the only one, internet have this things. I host a server everytime, and tones of people ask for the same things that are discribed here. Ignore them, just do this and they go out by your own foots, or stay if they want keep with the server rules.

People that are not happy with other's server rules, it's easy, jump out and open their ouwn server, with their own rules.

One of my grips is that most of the races that I've been in online are too short. 2 or 3 laps isn't long enough to have a good race. In short races your forced into trying to lead the race from the start.

Also, I like sticking with the same track for more than one race. This way you get more familiar with the track.

Lastly, people can be sore losers and if they fall behind they simply quit the race. I can't tell you how many races that I've started in with 10, 12, or even 16 people just to have have the field quit before finishing.

HN7
Block them.

Just a question, when you block some people on PS, this feature have influence for people who can enter in your GT5 server that you can host?

This entire thread is one big poster for why I stick with private lobbies.

Hey driving in the traffic here in Atlanta, GA has made me kind of numb to anything including the crazies online.

And Russia is what, North America?

I think "Kick this Russian c*nt" in voicechat says it all.

In case you haven't noticed, Russia isn't a member of the European Union. (Sarcasm off.) It's in Europe (although the East Russia isn't), but not in EU. I've seen plenty of EU only lobbies, as well as EU only servers on other games.

But I think too that the chat explains it. Some people are just stupid and stick to stereotypes.

When TGTT free run lobbies are overrun by drag racers and you get hit head on while trying to run laps.

In GT5 it belongs in "EU" network region... As well as Killzone 2 for example.

I seriously havent encountered such mean people in any other online PS3 game!

Ah, for that you are/may be right. But I've seen some real "EU only" lobbies which only accept people from the EU.
