Active steering is not ASM, no where in GT5P is it called ASM or has management attached to the name.
I have had (and probably still do, haven't checking in a while) quite a few first place positions in the online rankings and I don't have active steering set. I only tried active steer back in the GT5P demo and didn't like it, I don't see how it would make me any faster.
Anyway this was not what the original poster is talking about. I never use ASM as it really does slow good drivers down, not too long ago I bought some car and forgot to turn to turn off ASM, boy what a mess ASM makes of the drivability.
Yes a couple are still TOP that I seen recently. Have you been able to play GT5P recently? PD have put some Eiger F PRO Time-Trials for F40, S2000, GT-R, RX-7, F1, Evo X, and Z06 tuned with R1 tyres (finish on the 12th June) in the online section like Spec I.
Would be good to see how you fair, as it doesn't seem many top players like yourself even bother that much with those located in the arcade section anymore compared to Spec 1 and ones I just mentioned online (they do get deleted though, so understandable). 350Z TT is a good standard because of GT Academy.
Just on Active Steering not to be confused with ASM from the OP. It would be surprising to me that people like Trek and el_greco and others use Active Steering to gain. I got a wheel a couple of days ago after years of playing with pads and managed to match pad times after about 7 hours play over a couple of days, but I can't get any advantage from Active Steering set on Mild or Strong, it just feels slightly more "Active" and lively like more feedback, but I'm still just getting a feel for the wheel, even though I've been driving many types of cars in real life for 15 years. Still I would think the famous top players could match their times with Active Steering OFF. How much gain can some people get if you read this amar212, thanks.
