Does GT4 work on the PS3?

I feel somewhat stupid opening this topic since we´re in a GT4 forum but I honestly couldnt find the answer using the search feature...

Does GT4 work on the PS3? My PS2 broke some months ago and I havent played GT4 since. I´ve lended it to a buddy and I am now wondering if the PS3 is any good to play GT4 and if I have to get my game back :sly:

It's a tricky one... it depends on where you are, since PAL PS3's (like we have in Europe) are less backward-compatible than our non-PAL counterparts in the US and Japan.

There is a website where you can check which games have problems etc., (http://faq.eu.playstation.com/bc/bc...Gy9fL2271vs76ymrnQpjdv!160835178?locale=de_DE) but irritatingly it says nothing about GT4. I have read on these forums, however, that currently Gt4 doesn't work. Best way to find out, however, is to get your disc back and bang it in.

Have you had chance to try your copy of GT4 yet Chris?
 
I have first hand knowledge that it does work for my NTSC version. The graphics, at the time, looked so bad that I couldn't stand playing it....but it worked.
 
Sorry to disapoint my PAL buddies but unfortunatly it dosn't work, it was one of the first things I did. I just hope they get around to doing it.

Yes, it doesn't work. Prologue works, oddly, but it's quite unstable and looks quite bad...

It was the first thing I stuck in the PS3 as well...
 
I wonder how long it will take Sony to add one of their flagship tittles to the emulation list, mine works fine and when set to HD actually looks better than it used to.
 
Yes, all NTCS PS3s are able to play almost any PS2 game if not all.

But PAL PS3s got a good deal as well, they are able to upscale the graphics of PS2 games to 480p and 720p, as far as I'm concerned.

GT4 works great with my PS3 (PAL) just a little graphic glitch in the sky at top left some times...

Yep. 👍 And the opening sequence is a bit unstable. Other than that's, it's fine...

I had a proper play with it the other day, and the game actually looks pretty good compared to GT4 Prologue before the update. They've cleaned it up quite a bit, and is sharper than the PS2 / Prologue outputted.

Yes, since the last firmware update you are now able to play GT4 on a PAL PS3. All what has been said above is the same on mine, weird block of colour appears in the top left corner and stuttering on the opening movie and also on the loading screens.

As for 1080i im not sure about the NTSC PS3's as that played at 1080i on the PS2 but as for PAL its a no go only 576p, its too bad but I will be playing it on my PS2 instead and on a CRT tv for now untill they update the stuttering & that.
 
I played Gt4 as one of the first games in the PS3 . You create a virtual memeory card and use the adapter you must buy to copy your old save.
The graphics are ..well DIFFERENT from the ps2 because I think the ps3 allows betters resolution and shows more pixels ...so the cars tires look worse on the ps3 but the cars look better and sharper overall ..the game just looks better period on PS3 ..and its not just GT4 I tried ..I played PTO IV and the difference was AMAZING . Also Disgaea and Ace Combat along with Hero's of the pacific. All had a noticable difference in graphics quality .

I have GTA Vice city stories in it now .

The only PS3 game I owm is Oblivion ...and it is simply AMAZING tthat the same game I am playing on my PC actually plays as well on my PS3 ..I miss the mods and the lack of plug ins badly though . And I also resent the fact I have to play Shivering Isles on my PC . LOL.

Resistance age of man demo is nice ....gotta figure out how to stay alive longer.
And I have played the crap out of GTHD ..got as far as 15 in the rankings.
Now I have to figure out how to enter my name and we are golden .
