Does GT5 looks like this?

hey ferm65 go to game settings on your PS3 and then go to where it says PS- smoothing it should be set on.

That's only for PS1 games and perhaps PS2 games as well, but definitely not for PS3 games.

Thanks for telling me I will turn mine off.
Leave it on, just in case you'll ever play a PS1 game.

It doesn't hurt PS3 games, it simply doesn't affect them at all. So it doesn't really matter.

Looks more like your TV settings are screwed.

Following:
- Select the source for your PS3 (HDMI 1,2,etc)
- MENU (on remote control)
- SETUP
1. General - Game Mode - On
- PICTURE
2. Picture Reset - Ok
3. Advanced Settings - Edge Enhancement - Off
4. Dynamic Contrast - Off
5. Sharpness - Turn it down! I personally have it at 20 (50 is default)
6. Contrast - Default was 95, I turned it down to 84
After doing the steps above:
Especially important was to set HDMI Black Level under Picture Options to Normal. By default it's set to low and that ruins the details of dark spots. Don't confuse it with other black level settings (there tons of them). To counter the relatively bright picture I reduced the brightness a little (not backlight.

EDIT: Oh and set Colour Space under Advanced Settings to Auto and not Native.

EDIT2:
If you want to improve picture quality, you should try to adjust the settings a little.
People are normally using "Movie" mode with Colour Tone at Warm 2 (default for movie) for calibration on Samsungs. If you turn game mode on, it will be locked to Standard. That's no problem, because Movie is just a settings preset. Simply write down the settings of the Movie mode and then apply them to the standard profile after doing all steps I already listed at the beginning of this post. Then start doing what they did.
Eh5000 models seem to lack blue if set to Warm 2 though, I'd stick with Warm 1 if you don't want to bother with adjusting white levels.

EDIT3: Turn Noise Reduction down to low.

Woah !!! I'm gonna do it right away when I get home ! thanks a lot !!

If you have a weird looking picture even after doing what I wrote, then also try to turn off superwhite and deep colour and set RGB range to limited in the PS3 settings. I'm very sure your Samsung does support all of them, at least my older TV from the same series does, but you can never know...
I personally have them activated and RGB set to full, because my TV supports it. But perhaps Samsung tried to save costs in later models... (unlikely).

:)

Main issue is the sharpness, black level/shadow details and edge enhancement setting. I really hope the weird colours are caused by your camera or phone or socket, in case you used a socket to take that picture. ;)

Could also be your PS3 settings. Try changing SuperWhite (HDMI). Full Range RGB (HDMI), Deep Colour and cross colour reduction.
Especially if at night in cockpit mode your dash lights are blurry 👍
Remember to note down what your settings are first though so you can always change them back.

SuperWhite made a huge difference to how my game looks although I am using a full HD PC monitor as apposed to a TV.

Worth a try though.

Cross colour doesn't affect HDMI sources.

Hey dr_slump I have Samsung UN32EH5006 as I said it before mine is perfect with GT5 I think ferm65 PS3 is the problem and not the tv what do you think.

It is

Did you do what I wrote?

ferm65, your Samsung UN32EH5000 is full high definition right. My Samsung UN32EH5006 is full high definition it is perfect perfect with GT5 and your tv is not have you tried a high quality HTMI cable or get a tv technician to have a look.

I did. Looks better, but I still get horribly pixelated edges...

BTW, there's one option I couldn't select nor find (worringly): Advanced Settings - Edge Enhancement.

There's nothing called Edge Enhacement on the list...

I'll go to the nearest store and get a pair of high quality HDMI cables, definetly. I tried connecting the PS3 with the HDMI cable the guys from the Cable TV gave me (which was shorter) and still got the same problems...

I'll also call Samsung. It's a brand new TV, it cannot looks like this. I was watching The Big Bang Theory and even the WB logo on the corner of the screen looked blurry and rough... :S

No? Perhaps it's under Picture Options or somewhere else? Is there any other option with the description of sharpening the picture or sharpening edges?
Possible that they reneamed it, but I can't imagine that they removed that option. Look if there's any other option for sharpness besides of the "Sharpness" option in the main PICTURE menu. If not, then look for any other option with "edge something" in it.

That option does make everything look very sharp, high contrast and edgy/hard.

On my Samsung TV, sharpness is listed on main picture menu under brightness, and edge enhancement along with black adjust, dynamic contrast and gamma listed under Detailed Settings right under Tint, Picture Options is at the bottom of main menu which contains Colour Tone, Size ( Just Scan - 16x9, 4x3, zoom, wide zoom ), Digital NR, DNIE, HDMI Black Level and Blue Mode only.

Good possible that they changed the menu in later models.
👍

Btw, it's not the HDMI cable.

All of these settings are the same on my samung

Why don't you return it? It should have a return policy. Also I have an old Samsung, that runs GT5 perfectly.

The very last thing I can think of is to use the HDMI(DVI) port (HDMI 1 usually) and then go to MENU - INPUT - Edit Source Name - PC.

This sets the TV into a special PC mode which deactivates every single post processing stuff and overscan etc, you basically get a 1:1 representation of the picture then (apart from colour ranges). After that you may need to set the RGB range on your PS3 to full though for a better picture quality (limited works too, just for looks).

If that doesn't help and you really think it's a TV issue, return the TV.

That's really the last thing. If that doesn't work, nothing else will.

On my Samsung, DVI port is tied to HDMI 2 :) I also use PC label trick, Full color range on XMB and Normal Black Level on the TV, for Bluray/HD/DVD movies - set XMB Color Range to Limited and Black Level to Low on TV.

After messing around with all the settings, I've made it look much better now.

Nice, much better indeed, what did you do ?

Yeah, and depending on the TV a slight gamma correction and refined white balance - done (except you have CMS available, although the 5 series doesn't).

I did all slump suggested plus added more contrast, lowered brightness and backlight, raised sharpness a bit (i had it down all the way).

Somehow it looks much better now.

I'll try the PC trick later tonight !

Ah, still... does it look like that for you too?
Tinypic is blocked at work (no worries, the machine is running and does all the work for me ;); I'm allowed to browse around).
