First since this is my first post let me introduce myself. I have been sim-racing for more years than I can even remember. Have run in tons of PC leagues. Everything from touring cars to short track dirt cars. This is my first journey into console racing. I am loving the game, really enjoying driving tuned up street cars. Unfortunately I have found the online experience to be quite different from that on PC. I was wondering if anybody could recommend some good online racing that is actually RACING! 99% of the servers I get into on the open lobby are just wreck fests. I can't even describe how sick I am of getting punted off the track from behind because i actually hit the brakes during the braking zones.

GTplanet been awesome, and i love reading about all you guys who seem to actually enjoy the SIM in "sim"-racing. Where can I race with some of you??? are there regular nights that guys from gtp get together to race? Any help that you guys can give me on where to find some genuinely clean races would be really appreciated!

THANKS SO MUCH!

I am new here myself. I don't really feel like part of the GTP community, yet. So I hope my opinion is a bit more fair.

I don't know of a night when everyone gets together. There are several little leagues running here with different flavors. As an aside, I'd love a comprehensive site with laddered leagues. I'm a horrible driver, and I'd like to race some place where I won't finish last in every single race (and be lapped on most).

As to clean racing. I've found mixed results here, but for the most part everyone tries to drive cleanly.

It is possible to find some nice races but it unfortunately takes some effort. Main thing to look at is that the room doesn't allow srf and that there is some kind of tire restrictions in place. The tire restriction alone usually weeds the worst out.

Keep an eye out here for new race series starting up and get your name in. Usually takes a few weeks for one to get started. Or like myself you can join a club that has a little more organization and usually new series starting often for every schedual. Check out the link in my signature.

Just build a good list of friends . Slowly you will have that core group of 10-20 people you will always race with.

It will take some time though, but making friends with people in a race series will help

Oh wow Durham! I just recently moved back to Wilmington from living in Raleigh for 5 years.

I feel your pain.

If I ever saw someone racing cleanly I would add them, and stalk them when I sign on. The logic was hopefully they too joined someones lobby that they knew was a clean racer. Had some success to this. I should really clean up my PSN list to get the most out of this.

As above, picking a lobby with tyre restrictions (anything below race hard) and damage seems to help. And also use the skid recovery disabled filter. Once joined a lobby look at the current "race" time, if its above say 30mins its unlikely there will be a race soon and people seem to go insane and ram :/ One more thing, smaller lobbies I find tend to be cleaner. I guess if they fill up with decent drivers they tend to stick around. While if the same lobby had more free slots more would join, resulting in a higher number of joins of rammers and parts of angry clean racers etc

I joined one of the events here which does a full grid of 1 model of car, it was the best and cleanest race I have ever seen and I desperately seek more of this! So I highly recomend keeping an eye on this online section and getting in on those when they suit your schedule. Or perahaps try and start your own.

Your in luck! lol. The Focus ST spec racing series i'm running has our first practice today. There's 8 signed up so far and the preseason should be starting next weekend. Check out my sig.

And yes, i'm shameless about plugging my race.

Hi there,

I´m too are quite new to the scene but did a pound of kilometres in sims offline, speciall GTR2. The very first few days wern´t that big of a winner cause I expereinced the same issues as you all have described here. But for example, yesterday I had my very first race within the HSRL using clutch and H-shifter and it was such an intense feeling like I´ve never had before. There happen to be really smart hosts who can run their rooms superb, with the regulations set in a way that crash-kids´ll leave fast enough. These are called for example "Damage Heavy" or else "Darwins Theory Of Evolution" :dopey:

p.s. I´m still out for quality racing and like-minded pistonheads 👍

Maybe we meet again on track
