hey guys, how goes it?well,I've gotta question for all of you that have ever driven an F1..has it ever gotten pissed off at a car passing by it to take your place, then it goes far over the speed it can ACTUALLY go?well...mine did..and just to let you guys know..I don't drive F1s,this is my first time ever driving one (I'm in the F1 Championship) so anyways..back to my story..I took a Max Speed test before I entered the F1 Championship and my F1 got a 229.7 mph as it's top speed.well,I raced the four courses that come before the Test Course in the championship, then I reached the Test Course..well,it was goin' smooth for a while when I got into first place, but then I started losin' speed all of the sudden (I guess them other races wore out my oil pretty bad :p,I lost like 30 somethin' HP) so I had to make a breakaway (breakaway = staying in front of your opponent so he/she cannot pass) and yes that was for the whole 25 laps.but anyways,I was doin' pretty good for a while, then someone ALLLLLL the way to the far right passed me,cause I was too busy tryin' to keep the other ones from passin' me,then I saw him pass me,and I was like,"s**t!",cause almost the whole race,my base speed was somewhere around 219 to 224 MPH,until they hit me..then it would go up to at least 228 to 230 MPH...so I pretty much thought I was screwed cause his speed was a lil faster than mine, but all of the sudden,my speedomoter went ape s**t!it went way past the bottom of the red line and I reached up to 251 MPH!I breezed right by him and I was like :thatsodd: what the hell was that all about?!and so,throughout the rest of the race,if someone got the chance to pass me,I would go towards them, then my speed would increase enough to where I could claim 1st place again :D!and I believe I also found out somethin' else...you have to be at least from a 100 to 200m distance from them..or basically,be as close as you can to them after they get in front of you, then your speed will drastically increase.this situation has happened once before when I was racing against my friend's Lotus Espirit with my Tuscan Speed 12,cause we was on the Test Course and he passed me on the long corner cause my speed was decreasing, then all of the sudden, when we got to that tunnel,my speed got up to 279 MPH and I blew right by him,but after I got infront of him,my speed gradually went back down to the normal speed it was going before it had the outburst.so anyways,my question is though..do any of your cars have feelings?I know mine do :)

Its because the car in front of you is punching a hole in the air. As he has to battle the solid air, you get to power through a kind of vacuum or vortex where there is not much wind resistance, so your car can then go alot faster.

Personally if the cars showed feelings, I would turn the game off.

I don't know 12 sec.,I must admit (please nobody take this the wrong way =P) my Trueno has feelings,I know..I can feel it ya know, cause I've been racing with that car like, almost ever since I first started playin GT3 (well, when I won it anyways) well, let's put it this way..if I gave you the controller and told you,"hey,I want you to change anything you want to and I'll tell you exactly what you changed when I get back",then I would be able to tell you what you changed on my Trueno, all the way from how much the Suspension may have tightened, all the way to the change of tyres or detuning the car ^_^.my Trueno and I have grown a bond together I guess you could say, cause at one point in time,I was racing against my ghost on Seattle Circuit II (it was against my FD's time -_-) and I went for 64 laps consecutively ^_^,then finally, when I cut that last corner..the one that you have to cut to the left, then there's the straightaway, but if you go into it too fast, you can hit that wall in front of you before you make the corner, yeah, that one..well,when I cut that corner, all of the sudden, somethin' went right through my body so fast I didn't even know exactly what it was,but I could tell my car had lost horsepower (and no the light indicating you have to change the oil wasn't on either) I mean,it's somethin' I still can't figure out to this day on how I knew..but when I got done with the Free Run,I went to my garage and looked at the car and I was right..I had lost 7 HP ^_^.so now I have 380 HP on my Trueno, but after that,I finally relized that my Trueno has feelings..and I can feel them..just like a normal person ya know.I don't know how,I can't exactly describe it...but I can feel them just as if they were my own.

P.S. I know to some or most of you, that message may have sounded different and you're probably like,"man, that guy's crazy!a car havin' feelings?!yeah, right!" or ya know, sayin' somethin' else..but I guess it'd just be somethin' you'd have to understand

Definitely not a owner of a toyota pod then :p

AE86 dood!

I can tell when my car is loosing power and the oil light hasnt come on yet. But you only get this if you are doing a hardcore run and settings session. As I mentioned in the other thread we ignore your stats and look at your skill and your crazy affection to your hachiroku :p .

I dunno though I dont think I could like one car that much, like you do. Although i have 2 shingeno`s 1 stock with 0 miles on the clock and a tuner one thats set for no drift track racing (a hachiroku going round a corner without drifting? surely not???). I still think you like your treuno too much. God knows what you would be like if you had a real one :p .

isnt what you just described called drafting?
Well, yes, it is. Drafting is when two or more cars ride along in a tight row, one behind another. This allows the car(s) behind to use less power (and less fuel) to go faster, because the lead car is doing all the work of splitting the block of air the cars are moving through. The rest behind are riding through the low-pressure area in the wake of the first car. Drafting is primarily a benefit to the cars behind. They use less fuel, allowing fewer pits, and also have more horsepower in reserve for a given speed.

That's how slingshot passing works - which is what Trueno Boy was doing, without realizing it. The car behind starts accelerating at the very back edge of the lead car's wake, and uses that extra power reserve to move up through the low pressure area following the lead car. With the extra momentum gained by doing this, the second car is going much faster, and is able to overtake the lead car even after pulling out from behind and losing the drafting advantage.

However, drafting does also benefit the lead car. One direct way is called bump drafting , where the car behind actually pushes the car ahead (especially if it is faster, but not quite fast enough to overtake). The other way is less direct. Behind each fast-moving car is an area of low-pressure air caused by the displacement of the air the car is moving through. This low-pressure area acts like a vacuum, and actually sucks on the rear surfaces of the car, slowing it down. Having a car drafting behind eliminates or reduces this vacuum, allowing the lead car to travel faster as part of a train that it could alone.

if any of my cars had feelings, i'd keep right on playing - maybe they could do some stunt driving, or something.
this "drafting"...i didn't know that it had been engineered into the physics engine, but i've seen it happen IRL, especially to F1 cars, which are designed in large part for aerodynamics.

Race Idiot - I respect your awsome reply :D !and trust me,I'm not gonna be stupid and say,"yeah!if I had a Hachi-Roku,I'd drift just like Takumi!",I've already thought all of this out and I was actually..well..hopefully one day when I visit Japan,I'm gonna buy me an AE86 and begin testing out everything and gettin' the feel for the steering in an empty parking lot with cones set up (hopefully it'll rain some of them days :p ) and it's like Bunta said.."The Hachi-Roku is a car that teaches the driver" or somewhere along the lines of that..but anyways,I'm expectin' to have to train for at least 5 to 10 years in the art of drifting before I can actually have the hang of it,but I don't know..that's just an estimate, hehe.actually though,I drive more than just that car ya know,I actually had to almost force myself to drive different cars against either the AI and my human opponents ya know ^_^,cause I became so good at Special Stage Route 11 (please check my 450 HP Challenge thread to see record) that I challenged them with my Hachi-Roku and this was after I finally made first place (before my FD got 1st place) and I beat the race cars on Hard Mode, then I took a stocked Toyota Corolla Rally Car and raced against them in Professional and beat them by 2.4XX,but some people say I'm over obsessive over my AE86 (Shigeno Version),some say my settings are insane (the guy I beat that had the Escudo, hehe) cause I've NEVER hit 6th Gear with my AE86 (Shigeno Version),not even on the Test Course ^_^,then there's others that somewhat understand how I feel about my AE86,cause they may feel that way with one of their other cars =D,so it's cool either way though.don't worry, there's was one point in time (it only lasted about 2 to 3 months) where I could tell you what gear I was in in my R32 while having either my eyes closed or just looking away from the screen (this was the days of when I drove an Automatic..now I drive a Manual =D!) I could tell you just by hearing the engine, not the turbo..but the engine itself,so I've had pretty good experiences with my cars actually..I hope to have some more after this F1 Championship is over with!I'll be sooooo glad to get back in a different car, rather than an F1,cause hell,I'm even tryin' to drift in an F1!I miss drifting with my AE86 (Shigeno Version)!hell,I miss drifting period!well...hopefully I'll be done with the championship by tonight ,wish me luck guys!

check out my new sig!is it good?it's the first one I've ever actually done that tried to make sense!my last signature had a quote on there (and a fact) hehe, but this one is different,so someone please give me some feedback!

lol AE hehe... kewl siggy...

and for the guy that asked if the drafting technique was in the physics engine, it is
thats why you can hear the drafting sounds too....
and.. AE, on the F1 championship... get all the 1st place up until race 7... if not then well.... you keep going.. until you can do the thinge.. ykno what i'm talkin bout> the cancel race thing..
and

On test course..... don't qualify... use drafting 2 get by em... ;)

what F1 car you using for the championship?

Edit: Definitely, you will wanna practice slingshot passing alot... cuz thats mainly how the other cars get by ya........
o btw, a trick for test course F1... if you have a decent lead on the 3rd place guy...... stay beside the 2nd place guy.. and when the corner comes.. let him turn you.. that way..... he'll slow down *alot* and you won't hafta steer.. ;)

argh.. why am i always so off topic..

well, thanks for the advice Half, but remember,I've already done the race with the Test Course ^_^,I may not finish the Championship tonight!!I was so hoping to!but I've been playin' this game called Shadow Hearts (and you thought you was off topic, hehe :p ) so I may only get to race one race or maybe 2 if I'm lucky, but anyways, send replies!! (or somethin' like that)

yeah...well...I CAN'T ****IN' BEAT LAGUNA SECA IN THE GOD DAMN F1 CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'VE ALREADY LOST TWICE!!!I HATE GOIN' THROUGH THIS ****IN' RACE OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!IT'S LIKE A WHOLE ****IN' 30 TO 40 MINUTES OF YOU HAVING YOUR ASS HANDED TO YOU!!!!!!DAMNIT!!!!I'M SOOOOO ****IN' PISSED RIGHT NOW THAT I COULD JUST ****IN' BREAK MY GAME DAMNIT!!!whew...that feels better..NOW I GOTTA GO TRY TO BEAT THEM BASTARDS AGAIN DAMNIT!!

AE86DRIVER!!!

oh.. laguna seca.. lol.. tip: don't go on the sand on the corkscrew.. it'll mess up your time...
i got 2nd on that one... so i had to race..... race#8 as well so i could cancel out.. ;)
edit: oh yeah.... forgot bout the thread.....
cars don't have feelings, but if you drive with one long nuff, you'll get to know how the car takes stuff... well i dun call that feelings.. but if you do.... don't matter....
and AE, almost anyone can tell if the springs were loossend or tightened if they drive with a single car as much as you do.. ;) your name sez it all.. lol

Yeah, drafting on the Superspeedway or on the Test Course with an F1 vs F1 is really cool. When you get behind the draft of the car (or in the slipstream) the amount of boost you get it massive!

man, I am not trying to brag but when I did Formula GT I beat every race with the second place guy about 40 seconds behind me.......I even lapped everyone on Midfiled.

Huh, I guess some people are just better with the F1's. It takes very quick reflexes and a knowledg of power on oversteer, that can pull you through corners at amazing speeds. My best lap time on Midfield with an F094/S is 0'52,881

I agree that what he's trying to describe is drafting.... but on the case of cars having feelings? eeeerie!!!!!!!

hehe,it may be eerie, but would you rather have a good communication type relationship with your car,to where you'd know what was wrong with it before or right when it happened,or would you rather lose the race for your car not havin' them "eerie" feelings?hmmmm?I never thought of myself or any of my cars as eerie...hehe :p *halloween music begins to play*
