Don't Think I'll ever get Platinum

I've only got 6 golds to get to finish the game, and one of them is the Special Event "Grand Tour" - Eiger and i'm constantly 1:17.200 to 1:17:500 and cannot get that 1:17.000 :grumpy:

I've read the forums and watched the videos, still no luck, I use the logitech GT driving force and also used the DS3 .. Been at it for a total of 12hr now so frustrating :ouch:

Just needed to vent off ..
 
With the addition of the steering sensitivity adjustment in the recent patch, I was able to gold the last few events I was missing. I'm nearing my platinum now, just 2 more trophies for me.
 
I am in the same position, just finished off the Grand Tour event earlier in the week and need just 2 golds in the Vettel challenge, think they are beyond me though. :(
 
The best tip is that you need to go out of the tarmac after the final turn in order to gain that little bit of time..
 
Usually the most time lost is right after the tunnel, you have to be very smooth there to not loose much speed.
 
Turn 1 break as soon as you hit grass dividing pit lane and the track. Take the turn a little wide in beginning and stay off the throttle until the car rolls enough that you can go straight into turn 2. Tap breaks for turn 2 enough that the car will turn and have about half throttle until exit and gas it. Turn three break midway or a tad earlier through the skidmarks you can see on the left entry. You want to take this corner slightly wide for better entry through corkscrew. Again stay off throttle to let it roll and sett up corkscrew, then gas it. I tap brakes for corkscrew a tad before entry so it will turn, give it a little throttle until the car can accelerate without losing it. Those are my keys to setting up the lap. Good luck.
 
I'm loosing time around the big bend just before the tunnel, just cant keep the power and speed smooth, either to slow or to much wheel spin ,,

I was in the same situation then you. Youtube helped me a lot because I really studied what they did and had the laptop next to me.

1. Turn of the driving line because it will confuse you.
2. Turn of traction control
3. I had ABS on 3 (but you can play around with it a little up to 5) I believe and used manual transmission

Using manual transmission (paddle shift on my g25) scared me a bit at first because all the other races I have done were done in automatic but then I realized there it really helps a lot.

Drive down the first bit at full speed at the blue box break hard and switch to 1st gear. Hug the corner tight and then accelerate full for a moment to the 2nd turn. Here you must then switch directly to 2nd gear and altough you enter the corner tight you want to exit it quite wide and race down getting all the way up to 3rd gear.

3rd corner break hard again and back down to 1st gear and hug tight again....quick shift to 2nd and back to 1st for the last corner. Hug it tight. Straighten out your car and gun it down. You want to exit the bridge at a high 34 or very low 35 but that will cut it tight. I have seen people exit at 34 seconds so believe me. All the time you need is in your 1st sector.

Sorry didn't see that ealier..... Keep as far left as possible while in 4th gear and break hard as you reach the gravel on the left and switch to 2nd. Steer your car towards the right side of the track as if you want to hug the corner tight again. When you slowed down to about 90kmh use throttle control and switch directly to 3rd to prevent wheel spin as your tc is off. Onces your car is stable accelerate full power in 3rd gear and continue as usual.
 
Thanks for the help, I have no trouble getting off the bridge at 34sec can do that most goes, and sometimes I enter the bridge at 50sec have done it at 49sec but I think I lost speed and traction after the bridge up to the last few corners then I end up getting a 1:17.500 .. Agrrrrrr
 
I use a double apex on the long sweeper before the tunnel. I brake at the 5th or so flash of the gear change indicator since I dont have any good brake points. So I aim inside as I'm braking, getting close to the white line, then the car drifts up and starts to have some oversteer. At that point I give it 30-50percent throttle until I can feel the tires grip and I slowly increase it to 100 percent as I am aiming for the inside white line upon exit.

For the final corner I brake about 10 meters before the bend on the left right befoe the corner and again have a double apex. I aim for the inside as I'm braking but allow the car to drift up and stwrt to break loose. When it does I give it half throttle or so and aim for the inside on the exit. When I feel it is gaining grip I increase the throttle as I move up the track to the left.

Oh that's good. So you are a lot better then I was when I have done it a while back.

You will want to enter the tunnel at exactly when to counter goes to 50 seconds as if it was your sector time. After the tunell in the dip, a small tap on the break and down to 3rd.

There are some people on the left hand side in the youtube video that he reached at 1:04:5 . I reached them at 1.04.2 . Any later and you will not make it.

When you reach the final turn break just before you reach the dirt on the left so you break on the asphalt. Gear down to second. Hug the right corner tight at first and then go a bit wide but not slowing down below 81-82 kmh .
Straighten out and full throttle in 2nd then 3rd gear to the finish.

Wow reading this already tells me you will get this in no time. Manual really saves you a lot of time!!

However it will feel a bit weird at first and it also took me a bit of time to get the shifts right!

Knowing you can make a clean 34 at the exit I know you will make it easily onces you get your shifts right!

I do it auto, it's more about smoothness and feeling the grip in the tires. Exit the tunnel around 56.1 and you have a good chance.

Yeah... trust me and believe me this is the only one I have done in manual out of all the races because it drove me crazy after about 400 times of trying.

I am bout 8 hours away from Platinum just buying Cars now to make up for the slack to rach 1000 cars and to get my last trophy (Car Collector). I got tired of waiting for cars and just want Platinum now after about 3 month of hard work.
 
Good luck buying your cars, don't envy you I've already got them.
 
Cheers but I've already done the searches, just wanted some new input.

I've got the last two full laps of the Nurburgring, wet and dry in the AGM challenge, two Red Bull challenge, this one and the night one in the tour ..
 
1st checkpoint - under 35:100
Tunnel entry - under 50:100
2nd checkpoint - under 56:200

Make sure that TCS is off and abs is on 1, brakes should be on 10/10.
I've used AT and got 1:16:944.
With MT it's possible to do sub-1:16:500s.

Not to mention getting to lvl 40 b-spec...no wait, you have the glitch for that -_- why are you so bothered about getting platinum?? It's just a useless trophy, that does absolutely nothing.
 
Not so bothered about getting platinum just really love GT5 and want to finish it ALL, this is the only game I can say I've got my moneys worth from, Platinum is just a bonus ..

Nice job giffo, that is a tough one to get but it takes patience and practice. Did you use manual or not? I can talk about my times now that the WRS competition is over there. Before this week my best attempt was 1'17.850. Yesterday i ran a 1'16.166 with a lot of practice. I used a brake balance of 6/9 to help rotate through the corners better. The winner ran 1'14.5 something. Crazy fast.
