I don't follow. Are you trying to suggest that Porsche is coming to GT5? Because that has been debunked many times before.

Why advertise on a Porsche when they aren't in GT5 is what I believe he's getting at.. And I agree...

Just as videogames can't emulate real life completely accurately, real life certainly doesn't emulate videogames, and you can't expect it to. especially when it comes to things that involve money. Adverts are one of those things.

Unless... Maybe it's Kaz's way of toying with Porsche saying maybe they won't be in GT5 but with his money he'll make those Porsche's ride around with his games logo on them! If that's the case.. Haha go Kaz!!! :D

Serious? He also puts gran turismo logos on OTHER cars that ain't in gt. It's called advertising, what brings the money.

It doesn't matter if (insert manufacturer's name here) is tied up with (insert fuel/oil/tire company name here) via its road-car division, if rival (fuel/oil/tire company) sponsors an event, they will be wearing stickers from said rival and not from their partner.

It's just business. That's the way it works.

...? False advertising by saying "gran turismo; the real driving simulator"?

No No, by putting Gran truismo on a car that is not in game. It's like putting my name on something that's not mine.

People see Gran Turismo on a car and think its in game. I understand how advertising works, but to me, it leads people to believe something thats not true.

Well, a bus had a gt advert on it in Carlisle, I didn't think that would be in the game.

Clearly, Lotus doesn't have a problem doing this with certain cars, like the Rebellion cars which are built by Lola and powered by Toyota engines. Bad example I know, but you get the idea.

I can name you many cars with Need For Speed on them which are not in any recent NFS titles.

I know for Big Money, companies will put there name on whatever they can.

I get it.

I just don't agree with it. Just my opinion.

By that logic, it is "false advertising" to put a band's name or sports team's name on a t-shirt. Or for Gran Turismo to put a TV ad on during any show other than GT Academy. Or for there to be food products or tampons sponsoring stock cars. Or to give Marco Andretti(I think it was him) an Indiana Jones styled race-suit, since (I assume) he wasn't in the movie.

Gran Turismo sponsored the race. Because of that, they put Gran Turismo on the cars in the race. The race was watched by many people who may have been interested in Gran Turismo. Some may have even been happy that Gran Tursimo helped to make the race possible. No one I was chatting with while watching any of the recent Nürbuirgring 24 hour races ever wondered if a specific car or team was recreated in Gran Turismo, nor have I ever read any forum posts about the race wondering the same. I suppose it may have happened as there were many more things I didn't read than that I did, but still.... this is the first I have heard anyone have such a thought.

It's not really 'direct' advertising, where they advertise a product and hope people will buy. This is a sponsorship! The difference is, they sponsor an event and in return they put their sticker on whatever they want. It's a way to get your name out, not so much to sell a particular product, just to raise brand awareness.

You could even use TV as an example. When they have closed captioning available, a company will sponsor the show to get their name on it. "Closed captioning of this show was brought to you by [insert company name here]". This doesn't mean they own the show or even watch it for that matter, they just put the money up to get their name out.

Some could see this as "bad" or "wrong", in marketing, it's not. A businesses goal is to raise brand awareness so that it becomes a household name. They will do whatever they can to achieve this.

It's only "bad" advertising if you put your Gran Turismo sticker on a pack of tampons (Buy 2 packs, get DLC gift voucher for an exclusive pink GT350).

Does the advertising reach the target market? (Male, 20-40 something, likes cars) Yes.

Does it help raise brand awareness? Yes.

Does it raise negative brand associatons? Unless you're already a lifelong fan who's disappointed by the lack of Porsches... in which case you've already bought the game... No.

Hence, Good advertising.

GT5- The Real Womanhood Simulator... eeeewwwww.

Actually, I'm a fanboy slut, so I'll have at least 2 when they hit the shelves.

Half the race cars in GT, no - more than that - have an advertisement on it that is not on/in the car. What's the difference? Or are you not driving any of them?

Good sir with all due respect, Uhhhh.

Your questions are far off topic?

What I drive in game. Has zero to do with real life advertising. I'm missing your connection there sir, Sorry.

Confused

Hes saying cars like the Stratos don't wear real advertisements. And I see his point, he's saying your saying "I don't like how race cars with gt on them aren't in gt" and that despite this you race cars that have gt on them even when they didn't bear these in reality, thus saying that it should also work the other way round but it dosent.

No, sir. In real LIfe, is what I am speaking of.

Not the cars in our games. I could care less, what they say. And I never said anything about Race Cars.

In real life, advertisements with Gran Turismos' name on cars, that are not in our game.

That leads people to think they are. That was my point.:)

Thats why your responses are confusing me. We seem to be talking about to very different things.

Basically what you're saying is. "Look! It has gt on it! False advertising! It isn't in the game! So misleading!" but it's just advertising. A friend summed it up easily. "If a product has a good advert it sells."

That's awsome.

But no :)

What I'm saying is. Change the cars in your advert, for cars not in the game.

That is what I was talking about.:)

Hate to butt in but, it's not like they're sponsoring/advertising the car, it's the whole event! Why would they want to just pick and choose what they put their name on when they could put their name on everything?

If you someone understand how marketing works, this discussion isn't going to go anywhere as they will base everything on opinion instead of what's real.

People have always said, advertising/media is the root of all evil! Now you can see where that comes from ;).

As I stated, from the beginning " my opinion ".:)

I understand how marketing works, thanks. I also understand how it does not work. And how people are led in false directions by marketing. And why. Been there, done that!

As far the root of all evil?? Don't be silly, that's pickles. :sly:

The reason it is on the car is because it is the GT race series. GT sponsors the series. ALL of the cars have it. GT is like pirelli is in SBK. EVERYONE has to use Pirelli Corsa tires in SBK. In GT, EVERYONE has to have the GT logo on their cars. GT payed for their logo to be there just as pirelli. The reason behind this is when people see the races, they see this car with GT5 on their windshield so they go and buy it to drive like the people they are watching drive. Same thing applies with the tires. People who watch SBK races see the winners using Pirelli tires, so they go out and buy the same tires they see the pros using. Its just a way to get your name out there to people who generally would not have known about you. Hope this helped a little.
