Don't Want Your PS3 to Overheat? Try This.

Build some kind of a stand that elevates the PS3, or in the case the important parts. Elevating the PS3 allows it to get more air flow, and pick up less dust that settles on the ground. Though the vent is in the back, this allows the bottom of the PS3, which I've notices does indeed get hot, some breathing room. If you would like instructions on how to make one I'd be glad to tell you.
I tried to upload a picture but its currently not working on the Android app, and it doesn't work in the browser.
 
I normally put it on my glass desk close to the wall, would it be better to elevate it further?

If this is sarcasm then I'm not surprised, if not I apologise but generally it's bad to put it against a wall because it doesn't allow heat escape.

I had my slim on the ground for over a year getting at least an hour and a half of play everyday and didn't overheat, same with my fat PS3 but it's a good precaution.
 
I have to do this with my 360.It gets abnormally hot.

My PS3 runs pretty smoothly as i keep the house at a cool 70 degrees.This seems to help out a lot if you can handle the chill.
 
I leave mine on most of the day, even when I'm not at home. The temperature here at the moment is high, very high. It is also inside a unit with lots of other electrical items, including a laptop. How do I keep it from over heating?

USB base fans, lots of them. A small cool air circulation machine which uses ice that I designed myself powered by USB and most importantly............................ it's in a unit, therefore dust isn't really a problem.

What do you mean by a unit and why leave it on if you don't use it?
 
I do use it for remote racing when I'm at the office.

It's in a, what would it be called......a sort of long unit type thing that a TV would be placed on and it has draws and shelves and things for DVDs and other stuff. I don't own a TV so it's perfect form my electronic things.

I wasn't being sarcastic, I'm just nervous it's going to overheat because I have it running 24/7 doing remote races. I'm considering making a USB fan with old computer parts to have better airflow to my PS3, but I'm still trying to get the required parts to build it.

They are meant to run for long periods of time however get it away from that wall no matter what. Much more important than off the ground.


By the way O.P. I've got your display picture as the background on my phone. Get that from Zedge?

I've got an HD projector. Don't business with screens these days. 9ft X 7ft HD viewing area for 300quid, beat that!

(Did look for a TV but even a 42" would have set me back twice as much.)

Nice! Used to have an SD projector running but found that we had to have the curtains closed constantly and sit in the dark to get a decent picture...the the lamp went!
 
The problem I face is the bulb going. They're half as much in price as the whole projector! I don't have a problem with visibility, even during the day time. I've had it for nearly a year now and it's done a blinding job. I even bought on for my dad because he complained his TV was too small. :lol:
